Regarding the black backpack, I took a seam ripper and removed the logo.  It looks great and you can't even tell it was ever there.

Has anyone heard anything about places to eat with good/reasonably priced food within the area of the base?

I told my sailor what we had planned for him on Friday and he said that fine as long as we take him to our hotel first for a real shower.  He said the 20 sec ones with 45 other people in there was really creeping him out lol.

I'm PACKING!!!!!!  I am so rattled, I can hardly think of anything else!

maryquitecontrary:  I totally agree with what nycnative said.  They are allowed to have the plain black backpacks. As far as the swimsuit, I know of a group that PIRed in August.  The families had a pool party for them at Springhill Suites.  They were in Navy issued swimsuits with no problem.  But your sailor needs to do what he is comfortable with....they are threatened to be held back on RTC if they don't follow the rules and therefore, are very compliant with all!
