There is a bigger NEX off the base, nearby.  Might be less crowded with more in it.  Ask at PIR how to get there...it is very close.

maryquite, when you sailor leaves GL they are no longer attached to GL or the RDC. You should be able to bring the backpack to the airport for them.

To all the New Navy Moms Congrads to all of you, and I will see you on Thursday

I know that others have been allowed to have the plain back bag at the airport....not sure why his RDC said different. He was going to try and find out more.

mumziepooh - soo funny about your son refusing to change, my Sailor has several times for a change of clothes to be brought for him because he can't wait to get out of his uniform!! haha

Ladies - my son graduated last week.  We went to the airport and met them there.  I took a computer bag with his computer, his external harddrive, his ipod, headphones, a book.  The bag MUST be completely black - no adornment or company name (like NIKE) on it at all.  We had to pry off a little emblem.  He took it as a carry on.  The USO people were the ones helping them check in.  After PIR, we never saw any officers again.  As far as we saw, they all had their phones and things.  Nobody seemed to have a problem.  The NEX sells appropriate bags but we got ours at Best Buy.  We were pretty sure he would leave on Saturday but didn't have final times or airport until PIR.  Be flexible.  Have his bag for him and he will probably be able to take it along.

My son refused to change out of his uniform at all.  Not even at the hotel.

Congratulations to all of you - enjoy this weekend - it is great!
