Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Comment by diannep on April 12, 2011 at 9:05pm: There is a bigger NEX off the base, nearby. Might be less crowded with more in it. Ask at PIR how to get there...it is very close.

mumziepooh - soo funny about your son refusing to change, my Sailor has several times for a change of clothes to be brought for him because he can't wait to get out of his uniform!! haha

Comment by mumziepooh on April 12, 2011 at 6:20pm: Ladies - my son graduated last week. We went to the airport and met them there. I took a computer bag with his computer, his external harddrive, his ipod, headphones, a book. The bag MUST be completely black - no adornment or company name (like NIKE) on it at all. We had to pry off a little emblem. He took it as a carry on. The USO people were the ones helping them check in. After PIR, we never saw any officers again. As far as we saw, they all had their phones and things. Nobody seemed to have a problem. The NEX sells appropriate bags but we got ours at Best Buy. We were pretty sure he would leave on Saturday but didn't have final times or airport until PIR. Be flexible. Have his bag for him and he will probably be able to take it along.

My son refused to change out of his uniform at all. Not even at the hotel.
