Left my sailor @ Midway now heading home to Cali. What a wonderful weekend! I was able to spend the weekend with my son, he was a Saturday departure but his orders changed on PIR (no complaints). We had a great time, did a lot of sightseeing, Sears Tower, Navy Pier, Lincoln Park Zoo, Wrigkey Tour, watched a game @ US Cellular field & ate Chicago style pizza!
My son going to A school in Pensicola & then off to San Diego three hours away from home.........=)
Just want to say Thank you to all you wonderful ladies & to the site for all the wonderful information!
God Bless you all my Navy4Mom family!

Just got back to Texas this morning at 2:40. It was so nice to have been able to spend the weekend with my son. It was awesome seeing all of the new sailors marching in at graduation. I was so thrilled when my daughter and I caught up to my son after it was over. Wow! He has really slimmed up! He looked sharp in his uniform, as they all did. Sorry we missed the meet-n-greet. ..My son will be in Great Lakes until Friday (in a diff. part of the base) and then he will go to Ft. Lee Virginia for A-school.

Diannep, you are not kidding. The ability to communicate is so major. We left GL yesterday it was so great to see our son. Wow the change in him was amazing. On his way to San Antonio now for A school.

Hi everyone - my sailor is now in Charleston and loving the warm weather. It was a wonderful weekend!!! O'Hare made it so easy for me to go through security with him, and USO was very accomodating.

Hope everyone had a great time this weekend and is loving the increased communication as much as I am!!

Good morning ladies, spoke with my sailor last night, she got to San Antonio safely and was out on liberty. Her room mate is someone from division 130 but I did not remember her name sorry, I will get that later. She says the rooms are new and nice size. They have their own bathroom so they can take showers along. lol. She says I need to send. Sheets because hers and her room mate are not up to standard, if you know what I mean. Well I am just so happy I will get the good night text or call again I really missed them. Well ladies have a good week. I know I will. I will be walking on Sunshine all week.

Home safe and sound, exhausted, but still grinning from ear to ear!  It is so great to get texts and hear my son's ringtone again!  He's loving Pensacola - no tapping out, no traffic patterns, little military bearing, everyone speaks without calling you a**hole, liberty daily after 1600....and he can see the ocean from his room.  And to think of all the $$ I've spent over the years to stay beachfront....and WE are paying HIM to stay beachfront!  Glad to hear everyone else had such a wonderful time!  Things were rushed at Midway - we got there at 2:30, they were an hour late, but we still had time to spend with him.  Mom kept her composure too!

candy, so glad that all went well and he has arrived in Meridian.  Wheew!  Hope you had a wonderful weekend with him!

Laura:  I think you can send Fed EX, UPS, and Priority Mail.  I sent some things to my son Priority Mail and he got them within about 3 days when he was at A School.

1windhaven:  "A" School is SO much better than bc.  No comparison for the sailors and for you too!  Re-established contact is wonderful!

Hi Laura, I would think you can send pkg to SAT as long as no signature is required. Our son is leaving for SAT tomorrow at 2am. Hang in there at least there will be more communication. Has to be better than in bootcamp.

We dropped our sailor off last night. Decided not to see him off from Midway this morning...I was a bit too emotional. He asked that we send him his laptop, cell phone, etc after he gets there because he was told they might not be allowed right away at A school.

He should be at San Antonio by now-I saw him on Facebook so he may have borrowed someone's laptop.

Does anyone know if I can send his things to him using Fed Ex or UPS?
