Just thought I would start a discussion on anyone who may have a child/loved one in this division.  My son will be PIR 4/16/10 and I have no experience at all with military life.  I have found this site very helpful and informative especially on the day he left for basic training!  I heard from my son this week, he called needing info and he sounded great.  I haven't gotten any letters from him..which is not a surprise, but he did receive 3 letters from us on 1 day, and there are several which haven't found there way to him yet.  He did say the letters help and I have encouraged our family and friends to contact him.

We booked the Residence Inn last night and the AAA rate was cheaper than the military rate.  I think it was $84/night. There is a shuttle to the base for graduation at 6 and 6:45 am.

I'm not sure my daughter and I will make it to graduation, but my husband will be there.  Murphy's Law--- daughters tryout for Varsity Cheer and State track meet the same day as PIR...I'm disappointed, but hoping the schedule will open up!!

Heard from our son yesterday!!! 30 min conversation, and he sounds great. Thanks for the information on how to get connected to the group for ship 4/162. I'll search for that soon.
My son is actually ship 4 DIV 161, I don't think anyone on here has heard from our DIV. yet (phone calls). I have gotten two letters though. I would LOVE to talk to him. Not sure what is going on intheir DIV. It's no fun "NOT KNOWING" .....
