Sue,
I asked Justin last night if he knew a Daniel but he said the same thing your son said, they know people more by the last name.
That is alot of rain, most areas around here were like 10 inches or so and that did alot of damage. About 30 miles south of us one of the main highways is still closed down due to the rain. The road buckled right up!
Justin makes friends easy too. He was lucky and one of his buddies he met in Pensacola is also in Norfolk, so they hang out quite a bit.
The company I work for also owns a company in South Carolina.
Talk to you later.

navymom20, I will ask Daniel tonight when he calls if he knows your son.

We live in South Carolina and we had a good bit of rain last week which we needed desperately. Daniel left Norfolk about 5 pm on Thursday to come home and they had already gotten 12 inches of rain. We were very concerned that he wanted to come home with all that water everywhere but he made it safely after his GPS made him take a detour.

I'll get back to you after I talk with Daniel. It makes me feel good to know there are so many folks at Norfolk that were PIR 4/16/10. In fact Daniel talked this past weekend about making friends and that it is hard when they go to other places and they can't always stay in touch. He said his Chief at BC told them not to become attached to folks because it's hard when they leave. I am thankful that Daniel makes friends easily and never seems to be without someone to do things with and work with. Take care and I'll be talking to you.

Sailor Daniels Mom - My son's first name is Justin and he is a air traffic controller.
We live in Southern Minnesota and 2 weeks ago we got really dumped on with rain.
Alot of flooding in the area and so sad to see all the houses that were destroyed due to the flooding. We helped a friend out who lost everything in their basement.

Hello Everyone. Daniel was home this weekend and it was great having him here. Since he is in Norfolk we can see him more often. Navymom20, what is your sons first name? I will ask Daniel if he recognizes the first name and maybe they do know one another. Of course, Daniel is not too good with the first names since the Navy has them calling everyone by their last names. Just got a call from Daniel that he is back on base and he said it is still raining in Norfolk. They had over 13 inches of rain since last week and it's still raining. Hope it lets up soon or they could be as bad as Wilmington, NC which got over 20 inches. Take care everyone and have a great week. God Bless

My son was home for 14 days over labor day as well, before he headed to Norfolk.
He was also in Pensacola.
I wonder if ours son's know each other??

Hello Everyone !! I see that it has been about a month since anyone posted to this site and I thought I would just put a little note here in hopes that someone will see it and post some updates. My son was able to come home Labor Day Weekend. In fact we went to Norfolk and picked him up. He spent the weekend with us and drove back on Monday. I was so nervous the whole day waiting to hear that he was actually on base safe and sound. Well he made it and has been doing good. Of course he hopes to be able to make another trip home sometime near the end of October. There are a number of people at Norfolk that he knew in Boot Camp and that makes it better. Also a number of people he made friends with at Pensacola. One thing I did for him before he left was to cook a lot of his favorite foods and fixed a cooler full for him to take back. He told me it was wonderful at night to fix a plate of home cooked food. His roommate told him he was lucky and wished he had some of his Mom's cooking. Well, I guess I'll close for now and remember you all in our prayers. God Bless - Fair Winds and Following Seas.

We got our year book yesterday 8/20 - Div 159 and 160. It was great looking back at everything that went on during Boot Camp and Graduation. Just talked to Daniel and he and some friends one from his division were on their way to Virginia Beach for the afternoon. He is enjoying Norfolk so far and hopes to be able to come home Labor Day weekend. He told us he really needs a car. Fortunately he has met some really great folks and one in particular has been giving him a ride from his barracks to his Squadron which is 5 miles away. One thing I have learned about the Navy is that there are a lot of great young men and women serving our country and they seem to help each other. After all that's what it's about TEAM WORK. Take care and God Bless you and our sons and daughters.

We still haven't received the year book. I wonder if there is someone I can contact about it?

Hello everyone!! My nephew graduated A school on 8/6 and flew down to visit with family and friends. He just left this past Friday to drive his car back to SC. The next 6 months he will be in Power school. The whole family will try to attend that Graduation ceremony. We are so excited.
Seebee - My Mom received the yearbook. She thinks he is in a couple of pictures but she has a hard time recognizing him since he has changed so much from the time he left for BC. I'm heading over to her house on Sat and can't wait to check it out.

I heard it's a pretty area around Norfolk. Can't wait to go visit. He called last night and found out he gets to come home on 9/2 for 14 days!!
He also did well in A school and got to choose his first assignment and Norfolk is what he picked.
