OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

********BATTLESTATIONS******
This is the final test for your SRs. They will be tested on all that they have learned and any situations they might encounter when deployed on a ship. It is a 12-hour overnight drill. They go to the Disney-created USS Trayer ship (very realistic!) in the evening and finish up with their capping ceremony the next morning. There they trade their Recruit caps for their Sailor caps...and they are then SAILORS! Later that afternoon, the ladies on here will get the much-anticipated "I'm a Sailor" call. Teamwork is the name of the game. They are divided into smaller groups to go through BattleStations and are evaluated as a team as well as individuals. This is what a chief said about BattleStations: 150-300 SRs go through a night, 3-10 of those may fail and be given another opportunity to go through before PIR, teamwork is the key, and if all SRs keep their mouths shut, listen and focus, and work as a team...they should pass.
The divisions will go through with their brother divisions. Up to 4 divisions can go through a night, sometimes just 2 or 3 go. If a 900 division or 800 division tags on to 2 brother divisions, that would be 3 divisions going through. They start with the lowest numbered divisions going through first and move up. 800 and 900 divisions are random, or if they happen to have a 800 or 900 brother division (rare), they go with them. They can start on Wed (although rare) or Thur nights a week before PIR. They do not do them on Fri or Sat nights because of Captains Cup on Saturday--a fun athletic competition for all divisions in the PIR group. They then can resume BattleStations Sun-Wed nights, but may not need all of those nights depending on the size of the PIR group. If an SR has to repeat BattleStations, he/she will go with another division's group. Or if an SR has not passed all tests prior to his/her division's BattleStations night, he/she will continue taking that test until he/she passes and then join another division for BattleStations. Some can even go as late as Thurs night before PIR, with the divisions from the next PIR group. They then will be at PIR in uniform as a new sailor, but in the balcony, too tired to march after being up all night.
The "I'm as Sailor" calls usually start around 2 pm GL time and go into the early evening, but they can start earlier. So we advise all to have phones very close by that day...even when in the bathroom or checking the mail. Hopefully bosses will be understanding on the "I'm a Sailor" call day! When you hear from your sailor, ask if all in his/her division passed and post on the board for others to see. Some may not receive their phone call that day...because their SR may have watch...and would like to read this info.

one of the moms said her SR is getting the next call on the 20th so we think that Div 148 will have battlestations on the 19th.

my daughter said that her div 146 all was going to call home on the 12th, but they wouldn't go to battle station that soon would they?

No, they wouldn't, julie. They most likely would go either Tues, Apr 19th with 147 and 148 or the night before. Maybe this is another "special" call they will get.

Ughhh! I just got a letter saying BS would be on the 18th! I know Divisions 147& 148 are going to be the last....I was so happy to hear because I leave on the 20th to fly out there! I would die if I missed the call or if there were issues with him passing and I'm already enroute! Also....from what I've seen lately....I haven't seen any PIR's with 11 graduating group's finish later than Monday with a Tuesday call:(((((

Ok, so now we already have a discrepancy! 147 and 148 will go on the 18th or 19th? I'll put both dates down for now with questionmarks until someone can confirm. They go together.

So does that mean they start earlier? And 147&148 would do bs21 on Monday

It means that we aren't sure right now if they go on Mon night or Tues night. We have gotten 2 different dates here on this board for 147 and 148 (they go together). So we will wait for someone else to confirm!

Thanks so much, leslieo. I will put 139 and 140 (brother division that they go with) down for Thurs, the 14th/Fri, the 15th. They usually start BattleStations on Thurs night the week before PIR so that makes sense. Thanks!

cclivingston: Now sure yet. It is very possible that they will go on Thurs night, Apr 14th, with 139 and 140, and their brother division 141. Please ask your SR in a letter or if you receive a call and then post on here---we get our info from the SRs ---but I know that they do them from lowest numbered divisions to highest, with their brother divisions, and I know what days of the week they have BattleStations. If they don't go on Thurs night, it most likely will be on Sun night, the 17th. But I'm thinking Thurs at this point.
