There is already a group that I started, but maybe there are some that don't know about it.  So, I'm gonna start this one...

My son mentioned some recruits that he was "hangin'" with in bootcamp...but I don't know if I should list their last names as that is what he called them by.  What do you guys think?

I'm not sure either, I don't want to jeopardize their safety, but I'd just LOVE to know if my son is one of the guys he's mentioned--lol!
This is not my son's ship but I got my first letter last Thursday and also have it all memorized. I am just chomping at the bit to get the second letter and it will be the start of his third week and hoping I can get the call. He liked the food too. He said some bad things happened but he perserved and didnt go into details other than that he seemed positive. He passed his swim test and was not sure how he would do for the phys fitness test. I just keep him encouraged in the letters and just feeling sad I cant just pick up the phone and talk to him. he graduates 4/22/11

That's what I was thnking... on the FB RTC page they tell people to remove their names, but lol, the person who posts name is all over the post!  Don't think it's really gonna help matters!

I can't wait to you and all the other moms!

Just the one 3 min one...hoping for one today or tomorrow!  Let's keep our fingers crossed!!!!

I got my first letter this past Friday!!  My son sounded good, excited even and said it hasn't been as hard as he expected as long as you do what your told and use your brain.  The first 3-4 days were the worst and he said they find all kinds of things for them to volunteer for (and not in a good way! lol)  They are doing an hour of PT every day and IT (not sure what this stands for, but "in trouble" comes to mind) for punishment.  Said the food is good and they get 15-18 min to eat, he always cleans his plate and always wants more (awwww, I hope they don't go to bed hungry, makes me feel badly for them because my son has never been a big eater.)

I was thrilled to hear from him, he also said he feels it's more about mental toughness than physical toughness with the Navy.  Let me know if you hear from your family members---it's fun to share our bits and pieces of their lives.

That is great!  Wish we woulda got a call today but oh well... Should definitely be next week since that 's the 3rd week.  And I think IT is probably Intensive Training!!  And yeah...in trouble is right!  My son also said the food is pretty good as well.  He said it's starting to go by more quickly now that people are starting to get a clue...lol!

On a kindof different note...I think I am going to frame his first letter.  I found an 8x10 matte and I think I am going to lay some colored construction paper behind it.  I am not much of a memory maker or scrap booking person at all  but I treasure that letter!  It is very close to my heart.

I carry my first letter around with me...always willing to read it to anyone wanting to know how he's doing...LOL...I'm hoping for my 2nd one this week...I've about got the first one memorized...I choke up a bit when I read certain parts but parts of it comfort me too!

I passed it around to my friends at work...lol.  It is definately a "day brightener"!
If their division is getting into trouble, I don't think we will be getting a phone call (unless they fail a test or something).

IT is intensive training.  It is PT on steroids.  It is what they do for punishment.  hours of sit-ups, push-ups, running with heavy equipment, holding arms at 90 degree angle, reverse crunches, etc.  All of this while being yelled at the entire time.  I work with 2 former navy.  They said it was brutal.  I hope that whatever is going on, they learn their lesson quick so it will stop.

Hi Ladies,

I got my letter last week as well and it was great to hear from him. I carry it around with me as well and will read it to anyone who seems even remotely interested (lol). I'm a little dissapointed that I didn't receive a phone call this weekend but it sounds like no one else did either so I guess we wait for the 3 week call. He said the food was good and that they feed them too much. He told us a little about his job and seems to like it-- he described the pin he gets to wears on his collar.

After I recieved the form letter I mailed out several letters the next day but from the letter he sent it sounded like he hadn't received it yet. Does anyone know if thier children have received any letters yet?

I'm so glad that we have this site-- i know I dont post on here as often as others (I dont have access) but i do enjoy reading everyone's post and it makes me feel so much better about him being gone... you ladies make it feel like I have a link to him.

Thanks everyone...

I know my son got some letters because he had made reference to some questions we had asked in them...one in particular made me laugh.  His little brother (well he's 14 and taller than me...lol) sent him a letter and Justin replied back "And no Christopher, I haven't been to the gas chamber yet!"  Sounds like prison...lol.  Of course, they probably feel like it at times.

Anyway, I also love these forums...
