Hi ladies!  I received my son's box last Friday and I'm anxiously awaiting my first letter.  His recruit gave us his address the day after he arrived in GL and we've been steadily mailing letters to him.

Jessica B.  I've read your very informative posts.  Thanks for taking so much time to share what you know.  I'm still a little confused about the 900 division info.  Does this mean that these recruits will do something in the PIR?  Curious.

Thanks to everyone for sharing their experiences....I don't feel nearly as alone as I once did.

You tell him I said, "Thanks!"  My son said he received his "fan mail" last week.  I'm guessing that it had accumulated from the first couple of weeks of processing!

Hello family and friends ~ I still have not spoken to my SR since he left in February. But I'm not discouraged and we are writing letters faithfully. He is doing well from what I read. He is Ship 02, Div 921 and will be an honor guard. He has mentioned some of his buddies' last names so if any of you want to write me and let me know your SR's last name, I'd enjoy talking with you. My SR seems good, very upbeat and focused. I have been really getting lots of info from all of you and cannot thank you all enough. Looking forward to PIR on 4/8!  Cheers,  Sally :)

Hi Sally,

I just saw your post and was surprised that you still had not heard from your son.  Has he said why he hasn't called?  I know you are very proud that he is in the honor guard for PIR.  I must confess, I don't know exactly what they do.  My son has said he is a side boy.  He mentioned where he will be standing during the next few PIRs so that we might spot him in pictures on FB. I'm sure you will be looking, as well!!

I can't believe how quickly the time has passed and that we'll be preparing to leave in two weeks (we've decided to drive).  I look forward to seeing you at PIR!!

Rhonda

Rhonda- My husband is also a side boy!! lol he was trying to tell me where a "good" spot to sit at the PIR was!!

Sarah,

How exciting!!!  I am seriously going to be looking at the pictures from the next two PIRs on Facebook!  My son said he will be on the left side, then end closest to me.  I found a video on youtube that is about a minute long.  It is of a young man's graduation a while back.  He, too, was a sideboy!!!  I know exactly where we'll be sitting based on the location in that video!  My son says I'm a stalker!!!!  Perhaps so, but it gets the job done...LOL!

Congrats to your husband!  Crossing my fingers that the Division is pulling together these last few weeks.

Rhonda

Denise,

From what I've read, our boys should be performing in the two PIRs prior to their own graduation sooooooo that means I'm looking for them in the FB pics tomorrow!  Let me know if you see Ethan "snatching" anyone ( I just love that job!!!).

Hi Moms and Other Family Members

So nice to find the site and read more about 02/921 and the whole Navy experience.  My son is also part of this division. After reading through many of your posts and comments, it really helps fill in some of the unanswered questions I've had.  Thanks to all for sharing.  We've had two letters, the first dated Feb 25 and the second one dated March 22, received today.  We had one phone call the 7th of March.  He sounded good during the call, short of a head cold, was glad he was there and looking forward to graduation.  In our letter received today he confirmed the same thing many of you have --they are extremely busy.  He also indicated they have had a lot of inspections and are getting ready for battlestations and graduation.  He too will not be in the line-up; rather, on the side.  It sounds like this is typical of most of this division.  He explained their role is to catch others that may lock their knees and pass out.  I'm curious about the facebook page with the videos, I'll search a little more on this site to see what I can find, but if someone has been there and has the link, would love to have a response.  Looking forward to seeing some of you at graduation.

Marcia

p.s. Denise - sorry about using the Kymom name too.  I signed up before finding this link.  Sounds like we're in the same area of the country.

Hi Denise - Thanks so much for the link, plenty to read.  My husband has been on Navydads.com and has been telling me about some of the same.  Counting down the days. Hugs - Marcia
Denise - Thanks so much - one thing we've been trying to determine is whether to take the shuttle from the hotel or drive over (in our vehicle).  It sounds like driving requires an earlier departure.  Our daughter, her hubby and our 16 month-old grandbaby will be with us, which means baby gear (minimally a car seat).  I know we're okay on total people, as he won't count as one of the four, but if we shuttle, I'm assuming we'll need to lug the car seat and find space at the graduation for it.  Have you seen anything posted by families with babies about how they've navigated this with minimal hassle?  Thanks.  Marcia
Anybody know for sure when Battlestations is?? My husband said either tonight or tomorrow night?? Anybody hear anything different or all the same?? If different, any calls yet??

BS is tonight..8 pm to 8 am tomorrow. Go tonight's divisions!!
