I saw that there wasn't a group for this ship & division on 4/8/11 PIR date, so I guess I just started one!  We have our hotel reservations, but not a rent a car yet or the plane fare.  Only ltr to date has been the form one, but that one was enough to have me ecstatic!  Have written several letters and include a self addressed envelope back to us with a stamp on it.  Heard from N4M's that it makes it alot easier for the SR to write back.  Better being in a little group than the whole Boot Camp for Mom's group, which would give me over 100 e-mails a day!  This is a much smaller and more doable size.  Hope to meet you all at graduation.  Hope my daughter stays on track and that the date doesn't change.  Good luck to all our SRs.

We got 3 letters yesterday! He sounded really good. Said the food was edible but the portion size was small, so he is eating alot of salads. The shots were not fun, they got 3 in each arm and 1 in the butt. By the 2nd letter, his arm wasn't sore anymore and the fever was gone. We just got our hotel reservations at Spring Hill.

I am glad lettes are finally coming in for this DIV!! I have gotten 2 so far and and so glad to finally hear from him! :)
Still no phone calls, maybe today?
I hope so, if not soon!

Got a phone call yesterday! It was good to hear his voice.....sounding so grown up! All is well except for the food....it's not bad but he misses real butter and sugar. He said they got their academic flag and they are working on getting their athletic one.

Hey all,

Here here are some pictures of Ship 9, the Kersarge...

Cool! Thanks so much! :)
Yes, we would love to see any pictures you have! Its cool to see where our SR's have been living.

Here is the floor plan of the ships (barracks).  You guys are considers non-surge. so you at show laid out as the top (1,2,1)....  The surge units are the bottom (3,3,3).  Very easy to change from non-surge to surge by moving the movable walls...

Inside the compartment

Even though this is the end of the USS Triton, all the buildings are made exactly the same.  These door are where the recruits will enter the building as a group.  However, if they are by themselves, or they are in a small group (less than 5), then they will go through the main entrance called the quarterdeck.

So here is a picture that show the USS Triton on the Left, and the USS Kearsarge on the Right.  Your sailors will enter the building on this end... Make sense?
