Hello. My son is also in Ship 13, DIV 149. NIce to meet you. Jon left on Feb 11th and I haven't heard from him since the night he arrived. I called the recruiter to get his address. How did you find out the graduation information? I am still finding my way around this site.
Hello! It is great to hear from someone that has a son with mine! Tripper left on the 11th as well. We live in Oak Ridge, TN. I received his box last week, but no formal letter yet and no calls. I have been reading this web site like crazy trying to get a grasp of things. Tripp is headed to Pensacola for A school after PIR. I found out about PIR by looking at the website and locating his division. If you go to Bootcamp Moms there is a link there to graduation dates, by division and that is what I am going on. My son is 20 years old and we miss him badly! I would love to know more about you and your son! Betsy
Hi! We are in Dearborn, MI. Jon left on the 11th as well. He will be 19 on April 5th. I got his box last week too. It was really wierd. I searched and searched that box for a note or something but no -nothing. He is my only child so it is very empy around my house. I am proud of him but dang it, this is way tougher then his very first day at school. Jon will remain in Chicago for A school. Damage Control was his choice so it is nice that he stays there through the summer. It is only a 5 hour drive for me and a 45 min plane ride. I will be making many weekend trips (whenever it is allowed).

I sent a few letters already and I noticed on some of these posts that I might have boobooed. His recruiter gave me his address and said I could start sending but some have said I should have waited til I got his first letter. It seems everyone I talk to says something different.

I could spend hours on this site. It is a great way to feel not so "alone" through this ordeal. I know Jon has always been a live for the moment kinda kid so this is a huge adjustment for him. I did a lot of his thinking for him so I hope he was paying attention lol.

It was great to meet you and hope to chat more as we move through this journey. It's gonna be a long 8 weeks!
I thought I posted on this group already, but apparently not! Still learning my way around. I am a Ship 13, Div 149 mom. My son left NJ on Feb 11. He was delayed because of the snowstorm. It IS going to be a long 8 weeks....good luck to us all! I look forward to getting to know you all though this site. It will be nice to to have people to "talk" to who know exactly what we're going through.
Bye for now.....
hi all... my son is SHIP 13 DIV 149 too... glad to make your acquiantance. we are located in SO CA. i wrote 3 letters already... and i will send a activated phone card to him. we booked our trip already - flight, hotel and car... before you know it, we will be seeing our loved one and feeling SO PROUD !
Hey Fina R! Where in South Carolina do you live? We have had family vacations to Myrtle and love it. Where are you staying? We are still undecided.
hi Betsy, we are actually in Southern California :] we are looking to book a room in Ramada, is it true though that we must make arrangements soon? i looked into the refundable plane tickets and they are a great deal more...cost wise.
Hi All! So tomorrow will be two weeks since Jon left home. To think we have 7 weeks to go. I really really want a letter or call. I wonder if we will receive one this weekend? My phone is attached to my side. I hope everyone is hanging in there!
I feel the same way! But remember, we are 1/4 of the way there! I hate that T is gone, but I have to keep remembering that he hasn't quit, and he hasn't been thrown out! Our boys are growing, and learning things that we will appreciate in them. Hang in there! I am only crying about once a day now! A big improvement. Take care.
Someone at work asked how boot camp was going. I told them it was awful.....mentally exhausting, worrisome, no mail or phone calls and to top it all off, I haven't been sleeping well......but my son is doing fine! I think having a child at boot camp must be harder than boot camp itself!
I hear you andy! I don't know who suffers worse. I guess both parents and kids do a little bit of growing on this journey. Has anyone gotten letters yet? I was hoping for a letter or call this weekend. I have to share if anyone is looking for inspirational cards to send Blue Mountain Arts has some exception cards for "Mothers to Sons" and "Mother's to Daughters" cards. I found them at my local card/gift shop. They brought proud tears to my eyes.
No letters yet, and it is so discouraging every time I go to the mailbox! I thought my homesickness for my son would ease, but it is still hanging on. I hope things will get easier as we near week three for our rising sailors. I have heard that the first three weeks are the worst for them.
I am praying for peace for all of the "Boot Camp Moms" and for strength for our children.
