I know! No mail for me today, either : ( Just remember, no news is good news.
Our family received good news today. Jon's cousin and his wife are having a baby. It's the first baby in the family since Jon. I can't wait to tell him. I am praying for a call this weekend. Like you gals, I thought I could feel comfortable with this situation but not talking to him is killing me. I could really use some news of some sort. Is he doing good? Is he learning a lot? Is he having struggles? Is he loving it? Is he excited to move forward? Many postings say the third week seems to be the contact point so lets hope and pray our mailperson brings us blessing this weekend!
Congratulations! That is awesome news! Something to look forward to and concentrate on while boot camp is going on will be helpful for you to make it through another day!
I got a call from boot camp! T needed me to fax something to camp, so he had to call to get me the information. He sounded so different from when he left. So much more mature. His dad and I just kept saying we love you, we miss you and we are proud of you!!! It was great to hear his voice. I hope you all get to speak with your loved ones soon. It really helps.
That is so wonderful! Good for you guys! I bet it was awesome. How is he doing? My phone hasn't left my side today. I keep thinking maybe maybe he will get to call. I am so happy for you !
It is kind of funny how it happened. He called my phone and I missed the call! Then he called his dad's phone and he MISSED the call!! So he called his Godmother to ask where we were. In the meanwhile, my husband calls me and asked if I had a missed call. We both called the number that was listed, and the person answering the phone was mean!! I just said, "sorry, wrong number!". But then our son called us later and it was great hearing his voice! We really didn't chit chat, but he did tell us he was fine and asked about his little brother. I hope the letters start coming soon. It feels like we had one bite of an appetizer, and then the dish was taken away. I really want to know what all is going on. I hope you get a call. Let me know when you do. Take care!
Oh, you're lucky! No news or contact for me yet....but I am happy for you and that your son sounded so good. Maybe they are writing right now (it is Sunday, after all!), and we will all get letters this week.
My son left on Feb. 11 from Grand Rapids, MI. I am still trying to get myself around this site. When my son called he said his next phone call wouldn't be for 4 weeks. He will graduate on his 19th birthday April 9. I have not yet received any letters from him except the packet of information. I had asked him to keep a small journal of what he does even if its very breif. Its hard not hearing his laugh or his joking sense of humor. I hope this time goes by quickly.
Hi! Jon's birthday is April 5th. That is so nice you will get the opportunity to spend his bday weekend with him. From what I gather from the other moms on this site, they don't get much time to write. There is a Michigan mom's group too. You should join. You can do a search on this site for the link or find it on my page. It's nice to meet you!
It will be nice to see him on his birthday. After talking the recruiter yesterday, (my other son leaves for boot camp December 2nd.) They get about 2 hours to write on Sunday unti the 5th week and then whenever they can after that. I already belong o Michigan moms also. He also said he will be calling on Monday the 8th. I don't know how he knows that, but he wrote it on the outside of the envelope. I hope he don't call when I am at work. Its way to noisy in there.
That is great you get to see him on his birthday! T turned 20 two days before he left, and I would have been heartbroken not getting to celebrate with him. I sure hope they are not "grad and go". Does anyone know when we will be told if they are? I would love to be able to plan our trip up.
I was told by the recruiter that they won't know if they are a grad and go until a week or so before graduation. Maybe get in touch with his recruiter. He/she might have more information on it.
