For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Just got word that our SR will be heading to Pensacola around 0200 Saturday May 7. Anyone else going that way? He said we can see him off at the airport, at least. Then I guess the drive home to Ohio after that. I'm a bit disappointed that he won't get to spend more time with his fiance but she's being very understanding.

We are in the same position, except that our sr is headed to California. We're driving from Washington State to Omaha to pick grandma up and then on to Chicago. We are all hoping and praying that 1) there won't be enough tickets 2) that they lose ALL of the tickets! We will be hanging out at the airport with the rest of 5/6 PIR divisions.
I just thought of something. I'm sure the airport LOVES early Saturday mornings when the Navy busses pull up and out fall the newest Sailors of the week and their anxious family members. They must make a fortune in revenue on Saturdays. :(

same here, we will be driving back to michigan on sun 5-8. staying at the airport with her also, anytime i can get with her i will take!! she is in div. 161, where is yours?

sounds like a winner!!! hopefully, we all get at least a couple of hours at the airport. my daughter will be gone for another 15 wks in pensacola, then we will go down & visit her btwn her A & C school. i hope she will be able to take her phone with her, that way, she can at least text & call me when she can! miss hearing her voice soooo bad!

same with me too, but he's heading to CT...was hoping for liberty over the weekend, but like everyone is saying after 8 weeks of not seeing my son, even hanging out at the airport will be fun!!!

Hi Mary,
Mine is going to Port Hueneme in Calif. for A school. He will be much closer to home in Calif. The ironic thing is he will be in Calif. and we will be in Chicago! I'm still miffed about this "grad and go" policy, but I guess I better get over it soon. I believe it is 13 weeks, someone please correct me if I'm wrong. At lease he will be able to stay in contact with us with technology other than snail mail! I really think that has been the hardest thing for me to overcome over since he left for bc.
May 6th is coming upon us very quickly. Hard to believe really. Take care, Ebigirl :)

Recruit Training Command has changed the departure procedures for Sailors being sent to A School. For recruits going to A School in Great Lakes; they will check in immediately following graduation where they will follow the schools policy on liberty. Sailors not staying at Great Lakes will fly out on Saturday depending on flight availability. For those few that do not fly out on Saturday, they will fly out on Sunday. Remember they fly based on when flights are available and that can mean at any time on Sat. or Sun and some even leave on Monday.
Here is some good info to ask your recruit, even if they fill this out at PIR:

This was put together by gigi65 (thanks!). These are the items you will want to mail to your recruit NOW so they can hand you the answers on PIR day. They will not know the exact answers until 1-3 days prior to graduation!
