My son also left on March 9.  I got his letter today.  :)  He's in Ship 02/Div 925. Anyone else in the same?  We didn't get the box though.  He said boot camp sucks, he can't wait to graduate and he has no hair.  LOL

I just got my son's address from his recruiter. He left 3/9/2011 from Seattle and is in Ship12/Div157.

We didn't get his pants back!  So funny.  Mr. Pragmatic...probably didn't want to pay for the add'l weight.  Ozzy, so glad you got the letter.  I live on the west coast (Washington) too, was surprised how quickly everything came.  I must write....hate writing long hand, but probably will help to process this transition.  I honestly think he'll be better about it than me.  I wonder if they were able to write yesterday, Sunday's the "letter home" day, right?  If so, we should be getting something midweek or so.

Funny about the pants rolled up.  My son's were, too.  Why?

I got my letter today also Ozzy!   My SR (GIRL) didn't have anything personal to say! LOL  Just her password, 3 digit # and make sure to pay her April cell bill w/her debit!  LOL  VERY typical, she is pretty black/white type of personality. She should do great in BC, she can follow orders to a T.. now, have her think for herself .. not so much! It should be interesting! :)

It's offficial!!!  I just received my letter and his graduation is May 6th!  Yeah!

He also wrote a short note saying that all is well, and the Spec War RDC's are tough and whipping him into shape.  He also wrote,"it's all good."

Can't believe how much better I feel with those few lines...I feel connected!

Ladies, I am one of the veteran moms on here, along with JessicaB, Lala, janlee, and Betsy.  We all have sailors already.  Please know that the first few weeks of bootcamp are difficult...not just for your SRs but for you.  This is the "breaking down" period for them...and it is painful!  But it is necessary...remember, these RDCs (their "bosses!") are taking a group of 88 SRs, from all different backgrounds, life experiences, personalities, goals, etc...and trying to turn them into a team of sailors.  Not an easy job...so the breaking down process is a must.  By week 4 of training, things start turning for the better and you will hear more encouragement from your SR.  They have the "goal" in their sight then...and want to get there.  So hang in there...because by the time BattleStations start (last week before PIR), you will feel such excitement for your sailor-to-be!  We have been through it...and we are here for you.  It gets better...vent on here...reach out for info....laugh, cry....whatever you need to do. That is the purpose of this site.  We are all here for one another.

Please be sure to keep last names off of this board...against Navy policy.  We also advise not to use first names of your SRs, although it is not forbidden.  Just better that your SRs remain anonymous to "prying eyes."  Yes, this is a public site and ones involved in your SR's training occasionally read these posts.  So anonymity is a good thing!

Lala: How NEAT that you saw your daughter on that show during the sailor surprise!  I forgot that was on last night, but watched the one last week and cried so hard...maybe it was better I took a break last night.  :-)

Prayers for our sailors assisting in Japan...that they will be protected from any radiation exposure as they lend their service to those unfortunate people in their horrible struggles over there...prayers for all.

@ebigril....just guessing PIR is 5/6, due to 8 full weeks after our shipping date of 3/9.  We'll know really soon!
