I posted this on the ship 12/Div 159 page and also wanted to post it here.

Hello everyone! I'm finally home (9 hour drive today) from our very first/inaugural music contest/festival. According to my Bodybugg (as seen on the Biggest Loser) I burned 3,836 calories and took 24,347 steps Saturday. Most of those steps were taken between 7:00 am and noon and a large portion of those steps were going up and down steps. I'm exhausted and my calf muscles and knees hurt. I believe the festival went really well and we can definitely build on this first weekend.

I received the "I'm a Sailor" call about 4:00 pm (or should I say 1600) Friday afternoon. We were traveling and I was able to talk to B about 16 minutes before I started losing the cell signal. I was going to pull over but he said he needed to call his dad and his girlfriend before his time was up. It was the first time I had heard B's voice since he landed at Chicago O'Hare on March 10th. It was SO wonderful to talk to him! I forgot to ask him where he is going after his class in Pensacola but thankfully his dad got some of that information during his call from B. B told his dad he was going to P-Cola for a few weeks and then he might have 7 to 10 days leave before he goes to the USS Enterprise in Norfolk, Virginia.

I am looking forward to being in Chicago, attending the meet & greet and meeting all of you Thursday evening and seeing/hugging/talking to my Sailor Friday!

Congrats to all of our brand new Navy Sailors and good luck to the recruits still waiting to go through battlestations!!

Sweet dreams to all ~ Gina

God bless our SRs tonight who are completing Battle Stations.  May they all be sailors tomorrow morning.   Looking forward to Thursday night at the Meet and Greet.  We will be flying in on Wednesday.

Thinking of my son and all that are going into battlestations in a little over an hour tonight!  God Bless them .....   and keep them awake!   Jen, I've bought my SR a camera with tripod package and am bringing it to give to him at the hotel.  Then I will take it home and mail it to him.  That way, I'm not going emptyhanded since they can't keep anything from that day.  The starbucks cards or any cards for local shops are a good idea too!  I'm sure they have to have their ID with them when they come out on Liberty and a card can easily slip into their pockets with their ID!

Oh my gosh I'm getting excited!  Has anyone started packing yet?  LOL  I have.  My hubby is on a trip in GA right now and I've got to drive myself to LAX EARLY on Wed. morning after working Mon, and Tues.  My plane leaves at 8:30 so will hit ALL the morning traffic.....ha.. I'll have to be sure to thank my husband for arranging the flight times for me.   Now just to find a silver scarf!..

Okay. Here's a thought. When we first heard about Battlestations, they were going three a night this week, right? So, would a scenario of 809 tagging with the group tonight, 925 tagging with the group tomorrow night and two on Tuesday makes sense? Have people heard differently from their SR's? Sorry I'm making such a big deal about this, I'm just not sure where we're getting our info. Thanks for listening to my jabberin' about this...Diannep, maybe you're the best one to answer?

ladies, i have found that the roll up travel bags work great.  they lower the weight, you can put certain items in certain bags, plus, you can put your dirty clothes in 1 bag so you know that is the one that needs to be washed.  all can stay seperate, and you can get these at walmart for 10.00 for 4 bags, 2 for the suitcase, 2 for your carry on, or the dollar store has these also.

good luck to all SR's going thru battlestations tonight!!! my blue candle is burning for you all.
