Friends, I want to share a story with you all:

A rabbinic colleague of mine told me a story about going to Israel to see her son graduate from his Israeli Army Special Forces training.  The soldiers were on one side of an outdoor courtyard, standing at attention in formation, and the families were on the other side of the courtyard watching the ceremony, when it started to rain, a cold driving rain.  The families got out their umbrellas, while the soldiers stood at attention and the rain poured over them.  But the umbrellas of the people in front blocked the view of the people in back, and pretty soon those in back were pushing past those in front to see, and that went on and on until the families were standing very close to the soldiers - close enough to see some soldiers' lips turning blue from the cold of standing in the rain.  One of the moms couldn't stand it and went over to her son and held her umbrella over his head. Within moments, all the mothers were standing next to their sons, the sons with their guns and the moms with their umbrellas.

I wrote to my son Jacob (Div. 158) about this story and told him how much I always want to be there with an umbrella when it's raining on him, but that even when I'm not there, I'm always right next to him in my heart, and that a virtual umbrella made up of my love and care for him, my pride and confidence in him, and my 100% support for him is always there over his head.  After that letter, all my letters to Jake made a brief reference to the virtual umbrella, and sometimes I put a picture of an umbrella next to my signature.

When I got my "I am a sailor call," Jacob told me "Mom, I have to warn you, if you show up at PIR without an umbrella, the guys in my division are going to be pretty disappointed!"  So today I went out and bought an oversized navy blue and white umbrella to bring to graduation.  I think I'm going to attach a ribbon with a message - something like "Navy Moms - we've got you all covered!"

I know that they can take from 150-300 SRs through battlestations.  I am sure that they will try and finish as quickly as humanly possible.  Praying for all of them to be successful.

I went back through the battlestations conversation, and I saw that Hazel had said that it was Sunday night for 164. I also said I saw it somewhere, probably ran across a mention on FB, although I *could* have seen Hazel posting on FB as well? That was last week, nothing new.

Wow, Ginnie, not sure why, but I was notified 6 times that you had posted! N4Ms must consider you a VIP. ;)

Well as far as 809 is concerend most of us have gotten letters AND calls confirming that BS is on Sunday night. So we should just cross our fingers if that Sunday is the night! My SRs letter he wrote last Sunday said BS is on Sunday 5/1. But when he called Tuesday he told me either Sunday or Monday night...so who knows!

I am also getting a lot of the "wow that was fast" comments, and I have officially perfected my, "well aren't you considerate...jerk" tilted-head-smile...

no whining about getting just a few phone calls on here either ladies!! LOL H got to make ONE call just ONE and it was the "I'm here" call...his Mom and I are about at the end of our rope not getting to hear from him, thank goodness it is almost over!!

I have to also agree that having you all has made what I expected to be a very dark time much happier and bright! Thank you all!!!! ♥ ♥
