I didn't hear from my SR any word on her A school orders. She'll be going to corpsman training. Her recruiter told her she'd go to GL (even though a few weeks before she left, he told her it might be San Antonio). I'm hearing thru N4M, that they're sending all corpsman to SA now. Either way- does anyone know how long we'll have with our SRs after PIR?

Besides that, I thought a discussion group of us with corpsman can share any info we get on that anyway. Come join in!

So well put. Papercrafter. I am proud to call you family.

Gnomes- I agree. Forever you will be my little Gnome....

I imagine an evil laugh after "little Gnome"...bwahahaha. hehe :)

Ha ha gnomes about the names.  I don't know at what point I realized that my name looks like girl psycho 1, it was after someone had written it in a post, I think it was teach, but I got a giggle out of that.  I suppose it is probably accurate.  :)

I was just reading what Charlotte wrote on the other thread about it being so easy to give words of encouragement but so hard to actually live what Gmom, Here4, and Parot are living.  I just want you all to know that sometimes the anxiety and sorrow I feel for all of you having to experience this brings me to tears.  Unfortunately, all I have is words so that is what I offer.  I hate living through anxiety and disappointments.  Yes it makes us stronger, but it certainly comes with a high price.

Love you all!

I realized that for about a month I referred to you as "girlsky" instead of "girlsyk"..oops!! :)

Charlotte is right-it is easier said than done. But, what doesn't kill us makes us stronger, and we are all very strong...especially united. They are maintaining great attitudes despite setbacks...and I sincerely hope all their SR's gain the mental and physical strength they need to succeed. What's that saying about things being 90% mental and 10% physical? Something like that...I believe it. We're all rooting for them!

I try to encourage as many of you as I can. The saying "talk is cheap" is true to a point. "Actions speak louder than words" is also true. It took me quite a while to even post a comment anywhere on here. I have walked in many of your "shoes" maybe not the exact same experiences, but I do have somewhat of an understanding of what many of you go through. I have taken many roads that lead me to nowhere and I have felt pain, strength, joy and fear in most of my decisions, but I let God guide my path. The quote that came to mind as I read what Girlsyk01 had said was from GI Jane [quoting "Self-Pity" by D.H. Lawrence] I never saw a wild thing sorry for itself. A bird will fall frozen dead from a bough without ever having felt sorry for itself.

If I felt sorry for myself I would miss out on a lot of wonderful things that happen in my life. There have been a lot of times that I wished someone had walked in my shoes and had words of encouragement for me to get through it. I didn't even have the support from my parents when I was 17 going through the absolute hardest decision of my life. It wasn't until I met my husband and his support and encouragement made me feel better.

You are all wonderful caring women who obviously care a lot about your children, sibling, spouse or loved one or else you wouldn't be here. If there is ever a day in your life that you feel like you need those words of encouragement to get you through to the next step in your day I AM ALWAYS here for you.

As for the names. lol. I think it will be fun to meet all of you and find out your names. It just happened to turn out that my oldest son's last name ended up starting with a G as well as my married name, so Gmom just worked (I could have done Mama G which is what a lot of my younger son's friends call me).

gnome~ I say both of those sayings a lot, plus God only gives us what he knows we can handle. We are tough we have to be.

You have all become wonderful friends and I enjoy not only what this group has become, but that this site has brought us all together. THANK YOU everyday for what you bring to our chat and friendship.

Oh G.  I really needed that today.  I did figure out that part of my emotional stuff right now is just sheer exhaustion, it seems that I always get to that hopeless point and then realize that my faith is not gone, just needs a nap really bad.  :)  Sometimes I really wonder how I'm going to get through the next day, let alone the next 40+ years.  Then I have to remember, I don't have to get through the next 40+ years, just tomorrowl  Although, if I don't have a few preparations for the next week, it is going to be very messy.  First things first.  I'm heading for my bed.

Thanks again for sharing.  Even though I do it seemingly easily, I'm always afraind of being judged harshly or being perceived as wallowing in self-pity.  I try to avoid that self-pity thing, but I do believe that the experiences I have had have opened my eyes and heart to others who have struggled as well.  If I never had these things then I'm not sure I could feel what I feel for others.  Some things you just don't get unless you have felt it (like you said, not exact things, but things that cause some excruciating pain in some way.)  It has also really taught me to NEVER judge some one by their circumstances or choices.  It easy to criticize someone else's choices if you have never been faced with their questions.

Hey gnome, I think girlsky is much more flattering.  I should have gone with that.  :)

gmom and girl, I think we have to always remember that we wouldn't be who we are today, without the trials, struggles, strengths and love of our pasts. Mine wasn't always easy, but I managed to continue each day with the motto "one day at a time". The thought that the Lord never leaves us helps a lot too. Thanks for the words of wisdom.
You are all so very wise, and so eloquent too. Thank you for your inspiration. Today at church we celebrated Christ's ascension into heaven after returning from His resurrection. The priest talked of how the apostles were scared and frightened and wondered why when Jesus left. It reminded me of how I feel about my SR. Jesus told his apostles he'd return one day. It just really hit home for me. I'm having a hard relating this to you, but maybe you will have your own feeling about that too. It just made feel calmer, and I hope maybe it will you too.

Teach, I was so hoping that I could find this really great picture of the ascension to post here, but it is not on-line and I think there is no way I could relate it in a post either.  :(  Anyway, thank you for your post.  I think I have learned more about the Savior and his feelings for us from being a parent than I ever could have learned any other way.  Here is one of my favorites anyway:

Could be my SR.  And since you have a daughter:

We are not alone, and neither are they.  :)

OH Girls! I love those pics. Yes, they are not alone. My SR has said in many of her letters that she knows she's being led. I had related an experience I had when I was truly in the dumps right after she left and that I felt that Christ was giving me a sign that he was watching over her (long story) but I had sent her a medal and told her she was being taken care of always. She said she knew she was- she has always felt she was led there. As much as I didn't want her to join (I am just too scared for her with the world in the situations we are in) how could I argue with someone whose path is Christ driven.

I am so grateful for all you. I really really am. I am so glad that we will be sharing the next leg of this journey together. I couldn't ask for anyone better to share it with.

Don't make me cry...I need to save my tears for Friday!!!

Love you all. <3
