Hi my daughter is in this group. I was hoping to hear from her yesterday but no call. I received a few letters lat week. the first set was from the beginning of BC and they sounded not so nice. But the second set were more upbeat and hopeful. She had a problem passing the swim test but finally did and she had to take the run test over becasue she had a blood nose from the humidity. She says the guys start alot of trouble but they are starting to get along. I thought it was funny your name wendyG, because that is my name also . but I use my first initial and last name as my user here. hopefully more from my daughter soon.
I only received one letter and it sounded encouraging. She passed fitness test and swimming test. She said it is not as bad as she thought, but it isn't easy either. She also said she had to lose 10 pounds and "it won't be hard here". But I got no call on Mother's Day either. But hope to get another letter soon.
i just got a call from my daughter. OMG I am so excited the water works from her and me. It was so great never thought a phone call could be so wonderful. She sounds so good she was in dental having fillings. and ran out to make a phone call. She did say that the RDC watch this forum. I used our last name so they know who her mom is. She said they all talk about the moms and n4m. thast so cool. She sounded so good even with the tears. She wants more letters. wow what a day better than any mothers day..
That is awesome that you got a call! I am still waiting... no messages, no missed calls. I will keep praying :-) ... and remembering that no news is good news. But I still wish I would hear from my girl. Is not as bad as this could be. At least I am kind of aware how things in military work. It was a lot harder in a different way, when my son was at marine boot camp. And being my daughter said she didn't have a lot of time to read, I haven't written her a whole lot, so now I feel guilty because I see that one of the other recruits said to send a lot. So even if she doesn't have time to read much, I am going to go and buy some post cards and write how much I love her and how proud I am of her!
I got a letter today and it was very nice. Now she is asking for letters when before she said not to give out the address. Maybe she was feeling overwhelmed that first two weeks there (that is just a guess as she didn't hint to that in her letter). But either way it is awesome. She also told me she passed all physical and academic tests so far. She didn't mention anything about the 10 pounds they said she had to lose from the last letter, so I am assuming she is doing fine on that. The letter was so much more explanatory about what she is studying on. I think she is actually enjoying boot camp. She even made a Mother's Day card on the back of one of the pages of her letter with highlighters. Then as usual, she wished it was perfect and apologized for it not being better. She is so into the details; that will be good for inspections I am sure :-). I think maybe is good she didn't call yet, I was bawling just reading the letter. I have so many mixed up emotions it isn't even funny. But I am sure we all here do.
