I've "heard" folks talking about these pictures, however; I have not seen them.  Does anyone have any they are willing to share or know of an order form to get them??

Haven't checked this group for awhile... I have missed a lot.... My daughter is still at GL waiting for her A school to start as well. She did have her dad send her cell phone and called me a few times though. She got to participate in the Living Flag on that Monday following PIR. I think it is so awesome she got to be a part of history! 7400 sailors lined up in the form of our flag... so neat to watch in time lapse photography!

Hope all well with everyone and their Sailors!

I will try to stop by here daily and keep more informed and updated as I am glad so many have!

Hi everyone! Just a note to say that my son is starting his A school on Monday and seems to be enjoying the base (Dam Neck). He got sunburned today while spending his Saturday at the beach! Hope everyone is enjoying their summer. We finally got warm weather here.

Charles Mom...hang in there! I wanted to give you a big hug to tell you that you will survive. Think of all the wonderful experiences your sailor is having. AND, go do something for yourself to keep your mind and body busy from having that "empty nest" syndrom! Hang in there :)

Does anyone have a recruit in A school at Great Lakes for GSM?
Comment by sjr23 on June 25, 2010 at 12:02am
Tristan's Mom - what else can you tell me about A school starting in a week for the corpsmen at GL? Our son is there and he seems to not know why they aren't starting for a while. Did your son do Liberty call class today? I wonder if your son and our son will be in the same class? Does T know when he will be graduating? Will wants to do FMF but I thought he went in as corpsman.

I need some advice from you N4M's. :)
For PIR I rode with my sailor's mom, we drove. I'm flying into O'Hare alone on the 8th to visit. What is your advice for the safest/cheapest route for me to get to Waukegan?
Comment by JudyB. on June 24, 2010 at 10:04pm
Charles Mom - I can empathize wholeheartedly. I have found that while T and his A school buddy's are waiting for their first course to start, I would fatten them up with T's favorite but not so bad with oatmeal, chocolate chip, walnut , cinnamon raisin cookies...hope there a hit!!

Good evening ladies, just drifting through and thought I would leave a note. I hope everyone is doing well. I am okay. I found, that I left half my heart in Great Lakes, when I flew back home that Monday morning after graduation. It sure is not easy , having to get used to the fact, that my son has finally ventured out and spread his wings. I must edmit that the empty nest syndrome is really taking its toll on me. Letting my child go is nothing less easy, then quitting a two decade old nicotine addiction. The symptoms of nicotine withdrawal are physiological responses to the removal of a substance your body has become dependent on: nicotine. The empty nest symptom is just as, if not worse, painful and I am having a very hard time. I find myself falling into this deep dark hole, and I am not able to pull myself back out................
