I've "heard" folks talking about these pictures, however; I have not seen them.  Does anyone have any they are willing to share or know of an order form to get them??

Hello Tess, and good evening to all other N4Ms.It was wonderful to meet all of you, and I enjoyed being surrounded by so many loving and caring families at the MEET AND GREET. Friday was awesome. It was a once in a lifetime experience; way beyond the ability to descripe in words. I am happy for everyone who was able to take part in the graduation. Charles started A school on Monday and is due to graduate August 27th. I talk to him every night and he seems pretty excited and content. He gets along well with his room mates, they are four people to one room. He says the bed is way more comfortable and he has more space......no joke...hahaha. I wish all our sailors continued success and hope that everyone will achive their goals and dreams. Moms....please stay in touch.......let me know if we are building a new group, and thank you all again for your friendship. good night

Hi everyone. I agree with all of you. The hardest part for me was saying goodbye on Sunday, not knowing when we would see him again! My son called from A school in Virginia (just arrived today) and I think he was lost a little with his new found freedom! I'm sure that will be taken care of by tomorrow! Sajest, you are a mad woman for driving straight thru to home!!!

Thanks for friends for being here. I needed to visit here just now.
Pam you said alot of what is going thru my head. So thank you.
AS you said with the 6.11.10 date we knew WHEN we would get to see them again. You're so right It is the not knowing when we get to see them again that is the killer for me. I have told myself if A school is 4 months then I'm adding another 2 months to it. So I don't expect to see Ian til Jan.

God- Please keep all our sailors safe, warm and out of harms way. Bless my friends I have here. Give them the strength they need to get thru the distance. that exists in the life of a Military Family.
Amen.

Hi Pam, me too. It was great to meet you and we will forever have something very special in common. I ended up dropping my son Alex and his friend Nick at the base around 4PM before rushing off to the airport. I've gotten a few calls -- he wants his phone! So, I'm working on mailing some things to him. Let's stay in touch, make our own group and/or email each other. Looks like our guys will be running into each other!

I haven't been back on here since PIR. Congratulations to all your sons, daughters, husbands etc. that graduated this past weekend. It really is a high...and I think I'm still coming down from it too. It was so nice to meet Theresa (Terrence's mom). Our 18 yr old daughter thought he was the cutest one there..LOL! We just heard from AJ today. His orders changed right before we got there. He was going to stay in GL and they changed it to Groton, Conneticut. He got there this afternoon. I felt so much better after seeing him last weekend. He seemed very excited about everything and has so much to look forward to. It made saying goodbye this time a little less painful, but I still miss him!

Hi Olga, I'm coming down hard from the high. Sounds like you may be doing the same. I didn't want to leave but didn't want to embarrass Alex either. I was looking out the window of the plane on the late-night flight home and trying not to let anyone see the tears. So proud, but miss him so much.

So, do you want to create a new group and stay in touch? I saw a lot of Sabine, Charles' mom (Hi Sabine!) and would love to stay connected and unified in our support of our young men and women. Alex is in A School at the NSTC (Great Lakes) and will be there for a while.

Does anyone (dad or mom) have a son named Nick? I forgot his last name but he and Alex hung out a lot this last weekend and seem to be heading in the same direction (Fire Controlman/Adv. Electronics Tech.). Great kid. Told them to take care of each other.

My email if anyone would like to stay in touch: tmatheny@irell.com
Can we do it all again? :)

Just heard from my son. He is at O'Hare waiting for a flight to Norfolk. He had to use his phone card at the pay phone in the airport.

Susan2david - There's a group for almost every A-school, look for you son's either by city name or the job rate he has (ex: there's a group for Nuke's, a group for Pensacola/Corry Station, etc.). That's where I learned a lot before my son even arrived last week. Yes - you will be able to receive a lot more calls when they are out of boot camp. My son texts at least twice a day and has called us at least once every day! They all go through an Indoc class when they first arrive - teaches them about the base amongst other things. Some take a second class (forgot what it's called - my son doesn't have to take it), and then you hope they "class-up" soon. If they are waiting on more students, or a teacher, or a room - make sure your new sailor stays active in social events at the base, or sports and church. This is when a lot of new sailors can lose their "military bearing" and get into trouble. This was advice I got from several A-School moms and wives!!

susan2david..

My son left for Groton, CT this morning. I received a phone call when he got to the airport and then again when he got to CT. He was able to get on the computer and talk to me through facebook. It was nice. Where is your son from? Zach graduated last Friday from BC and was in Div. 930. He is going to subschool and then I think he will continue to A school in CT as well but Im not sure.

Dear Emptynester,
We just got back about 1 am. We flew out of Milwaukee -it is a much smaller airport and easy to navigate. All of our luggage made it too! Hope your husband's suitcase finds its way back home soon! The Chicago Botanical Gardens were just beautiful - everything was in bloom. Plus - with our uniformed sailor in the car, we got in for free. Otherwise it would have been $20.00. The Art Institute of Chicago also has a program for "Blue Star Families". Our sailor was able to bring up to 5 family members in for free - that normally would have been $16.00 each! Sure had an empty feeling when he walked off Sunday evening. Not nearly as bad as when he left for boot camp, but I had been looking so forward to PIR weekend, and the time slipped by so quickly! We spent quite a bit of time searching for a plain, double-strapped black backpack. By the time we started looking for one on Sunday morning, all of the NEX outlets were sold out of the kind he needed. Finally went to a Target and found one and cut the logo off of it. Hope it worked out ok.
Maybe we will hear from them tomorrow as they are enroute to A School. Keep in touch!
