I've "heard" folks talking about these pictures, however; I have not seen them.  Does anyone have any they are willing to share or know of an order form to get them??

Leaving Chicago wasn't fun at all. Knowing six months will not go by quickly enough isn't fun, but I am so proud of him, and I am grateful for seeing him over the last few days. I miss him dearly and cannot wait to see him next. It was nice meeting everyone, and I wish your sons, daughters, etc. all the best!

Well I had to take a back seat all the way to Great Lakes. Because IF I sat right be hind my hubby folks would have thought I was a jockey trying to win the Kentucky Derby. LOL. Really the ride out seemed to take a long time. Stayed at the Navy Lodge and t was fine (It's not a Hampton or Ritz but it our needs) Ended up Meeting Susan2 David's family as they were checking in. Told them how wonderful it was that they were able to make it. I told them to call you Susan and tell ya N4M moms find each other. LOL Meet and greet was a very nice time. it was fun meeting the folks we had been writing to for so long.
PIR , Oh my what can I say. just want to run up and hug your kid. (Oh, BTW nmy hubby and youngest didn't let me get a hat. Said they knew I would not take it for for 4 years. if I got one. LOL) The whole ceremony was AWESOME!
Sad part was being a 900 division mom had to wait a bit for my sailor to join up. But oh it was worth the wait. Off we went and just hung out. We headed to NorthBrook mall. My sailor was the only sailor walking the mall. It is a quiet mall. Ate at Stir Crazy then returned to our room. Had the best darn nap in 8 weeks. Saturday it was up early picked up our sailor. Parked our car on base and walked over to the train. OH, my who do we see the two guys who left form Cleveland the very same day for GL. IT was fate. They both were in the 6.4.10 PIR. So now I have the photo of them at the airport leaving for GL and the sailors they became photo/ YEAH! Saturday we spent the day in Chicago. Sunday we drove into to Chicago and had two extra sailors. IT was fun. saw the Shedd and then had BW3. Then it was time to have our ball come to a close. we had to get on the road for home. Oh my that was the hardest time of the weekend. I know what would have made it easier. Knowing the Aschool plans. being able to leave a cell phone.
Big hug out to all! Thanks for being here! I hope all made it safely home.

Sounds like all of you had a wonderful time, with exception to some lost luggage!
Some of us in my son's PIR are experiencing a let-down period right now. All those weeks of waiting and then it's over in a flash - it can make you feel a little empty, I guess that's normal. And then when they can finally call you anytime from their cell phones, they don't always do so - especially if there's a girl in their life. So prepare yourselves, they have left the nest for good and some of us are feeling like our kids have forgotten us! Once again, let N4M be your life line for support during A-School and beyond. May you all be blessed with sailors who call you often!

I think dropping him off was the hardest part about the weekend! Saying goodbye and not knowing when next we will see him! Atleast with bootcamp, you could count down the weeks, days. Jan, we drove by the Botanical Gardens! My son was sick after Battlestations so we were pretty low key- he didn't even have much of an appetite, although we did get in some deep dish pizza! He, too, received "thanks for serving" comments from several men. The first one caught him off guard but after that he would smile, shake their hand and say thank you! It was cool! Flying out of Chicago was a challenge. Our flight was delayed because of weather, and we had two tight connections so had to run to each one but made it! Guess what, my husbands luggage was lost on the return trip! At least we were home! They still haven't found it and it had all our Navy swag from the NEX in it! Oh well, it will pop up. Best of luck to all our new sailors in their A schools!

Just got back a little while ago from dropping our son off after the PIR weekend. It went by so fast!! We had such a nice time! Went to the Botanic Gardens, the Art Intstitute of Chicago, boat tour of the archetecture of Chicago, and walked probably 8 miles! And we sure feasted on some great Chicago cuisine! So many people came up to my son this weekend and thanked him for his service. Wow! Have times sure changed since my husband was in the Army!!
The PIR was so impressive. I loved when the recruits sang "Anchors Away" and when the choir sang the Navy Hymn. The band was so good - hard to believe they only got together 8 weeks ago. What a nice group of young men and women our new sailors are! We should all be so proud of them!

Dear Emptynester,
It was nice meeting you the other day. Glad your luggage caught up with you! We leave tomorrow - have just about o'd on Chicago stuffed pizza! If we stayed much longer, I'd have to walk back to Nebraska! Glad our sons will be going to the same A school! Have a safe trip back to Montana!

Got back from graduation yesterday. The graduation itself was wonderful.Several times I got a littler tearyeyed. When they opened the big door and all the sailors came marching it was just amazing. Also when the whole 849 of them sang Anchors away was just great.I could actually see that my son was really singing(when it comes to singing he usually just barely moves his lips).Ijustcan't describe the feelings that went running though me,We should all be so proud of our sailors they have accomplished amazing things in just 8 short weeks just think what they will have done in 4 years
