Ladies we should all have a letter by today or tomorrow. When I spoke to my husband on Monday he assured me that mail was finally able to go out monday morning. I'm not sure where you all live or how your mail runs, but in most cases people have been getting mail on Thursday. Keep your head up! You should be getting something very soon and we are so close to the prize.
I passed on a lunch date with friends just so I could be here when my mail man came. I am thinking about all of you and lifting you up in prayer.

to Charles mom no phone call from my son either
Comment by ses_monroe on May 12, 2010 at 12:54am
I got a phone call today. It was at 3:09 and it lasted 33 minutes. It was probably the greatest timing I could have ever asked for. I'm smiling from ear to ear still and it's going on midnight. I was absolutely speechless. The phone call caught me completely off guard and simply made my night. Actually made up for a full month of silence with the exception of the one letter I received on Wednesday of last week. He seemed to be doing good overall. He has to have lots of dental work done. He was looking forward to graduation. He said he was counting the days down just as much I was. He lifted my spirits just as I was lifting his. It was so good to hear from him. I could hear people yelling in the background and that made me sad but nothing could bring me down because hearing from him made my day so much. I had to brag at work about the call. It was so good. I hope everyone has gotten to hear from their recruit by now. We have ONE MONTH left. :)

trashline...Must congratulate You for your unique name aka...trashline. I'm so very Happy for all the excitement here this afternoon/evening...all of you Proud Moms who received calls and letters, I can hear the positive energy buzzing in this forum!!lol
To my knowledge...my son explained it like this...the first week of bc is processing for them, the 2nd week they start issuing section leaders amongst the division example: take T's div of 74 to start out with. 1 recruit doesn't pass a particular test, he get 3 tries after that they may have their PIR date pushed back, or like T was assigned as section leader of 20 recruits... so this would be a leadership position after time on the job...the yelling made it hard to focus for him, my reply to that is concentrate on the task at hand and not on the tone...he was reissued to admin duties which was a better fit to his personality. And as for the flags...their presented to a division when the sections of a division are tested on how they can work together as one unit, their reward is a flag the div carries on the field in formation and are able to move around without their Petty Oficer...thus you have the RDC's who are in Command of his div who are known throughout the bc community as having a reputation for taking a division to decoration something like this...it's a real big Deal!! T tells me that his RDC has such a reputation for just this thing.
So I stand to be corrected if I did not comprehend his understanding of the process their undertaking...the Welding of sections into it's division is the process... and their reward which are the flags, phone calls etc. for the strongest of the recruits to carry the weaker, and the smarter to carry it's counter part is ultimate goal of boot camp...that' it I'm finished rambling, except battlestation21 test is the last week of bc. Is the divisions last attempt at "working as a well oiled machine".

good evening N4Ms....I am off to bed. I was hoping for a phone call or letter from Charles, but again, no luck. I am getting very depressed and moody, not being able to talk to my child. I just hope he is doing well and keeps his spirits high. Did anyone else in Ship 11 Div 210 get a phone call or letter lately?

Olga...I am hoping for some mail too! We have been married for 7 months. As for the flags...he told his mom about it and she told me...I think she said it was an acedemic flag. Maybe they did well overall on a test or something...sorry I can't help more

The flags and decorations, from what I understand after googling it, are like honor society badges in high school graduation. They show u the things that the recruits, both as a team and individual, achieved during BC.

I got a call! My husband said they earned a call because they got a flag of some sort. I let him talk to his mom first because she wasn't home for the first "real" call. He sounded so much better than that first call. At least until his mom put the phone up to the baby and he heard his son for the first time. I was kinda disappointed because I planned on doing it at the end of our call and wanted to share that experience with him but she beat me to it :( We had a nice talk though. He told me that he is NOT Grad and Go so we will have liberty all weekend! He is a section leader...not too sure what it is exactly...said something about being the leader of like 20 guys. He had a test today and did well on it. He broke his toe, has strep throat, and had to get glasses. But he said he is doing fine lol He asked that I keep sending lots of mail...he loves the mail. He has gotten most of the stuff I sent out so far and said that he mailed a bunch of stuff a little while ago. He also asked for more pictures...he now tells me he can have as many as he wants when on the form letter he told me he could only have 5 so I haven't been sending many! I'm soo happy he got to call!
