Good morning 06/11/10 PIR members. I am the proud grandmother of Colby, Ship 11 Div 216. I've been reading on this site since Colby was a Depper but now that he's at BC and reading about all the emotions, etc I just had to get online. I know I'm just a grandmother but have had the same emotions. "Pawpaw" and I have our hotel reservations made and mapquested our route. Vacation time at work has been approved and I'm ready to go.........just waiting for the weeks to pass.

Dear CharlesMom,
I have been setting up my home phone for call forwarding to my cell when I am going to be out and about. The bad thing is I get all of the calls I wouldn't answer on my home phone, but hopefully I won't miss one from my son.

I think I've taken out that first letter home and read it a hundred times since receiving it yesterday. Gives me peace to know she's safe and surviving ok.This being a Navy Mom thing really is getting easier with each passing week. :)

Hello all - I, too, received my first letter today. It was a little disappointing to read how negative Charles was when he wrote it. It had to have been during the first week, since he appeared to be much more enthusiastic last Sunday, when he talked to my daughter. Also, I noticed that the post mark on the envelope shows 03 May 2010. He also called my home phone sometime today while I was at work. I feel so bad that I missed that. He sounded a little disappointed. Why didn't he just try my cell phone? He knows I carry it with me wherever I go......I really hope that the recruits are all given their mail by now.....they sure are in dire need of some encouraging words from home........

Oh...I wanted to share the quote I am sending today. It's perfect for all of those that were so worried about actually going to boot camp. Woody Allen - 80% of success is showing up!

I am so excited for all of you that are getting letters and calls! And I must admit, a little jealous as well. hehe. Can't blame a girl. I guess the biggest part of me is worried if he even remembers me after all he has been through since we only knew each other 10 days.. Before he left, he swore that he wouldn't forget me and that I would be his motivation to make it. Guess without hearing anything, it's getting harder to believe. The teddy bear he gave me sits on my desk at work, today it sat in my lap. lol. I sound so silly.

I just finished writing him another letter. I'm such a dork, because I got special paper that reflects something important to the both of us and these lil post its shaped like talk bubbles. I've been putting inspirational/motivational quotes on them for him to read.

I'm not sure what I would do without this site and knowing that there are so many people going through the same thing in their own ways. Thank you again ladies! You are all awesome!!!!
