terelack - my sone said that his phone call was given becuase his diviision did something good... the thing that haiunts me is that he wanted to keep talking ang the mother in me siad how much time do you have to get the stuff you need from the PX for school and get back and he said 30 mins so after we had talk3ed for 15 mins I said you better go and get your stuff and get back so you do not get in trouble.... then I hear that others talked for an hour... I feel like I may have given him the impression that I did not want to talk to him.... it was not that... I just wanted him to be able to call again or be able to write... I feel so guilty.... I know mhy son knows that I love him so I hope that he does not think that I just wanted to g3et him off the phone....this has just gotten mhy emotions all over the place... Glad I have you all... thanks for everything...

I have not even thought about what I am wearing to PIR... will let you know when I think of something.. Thanks for the ideas TristansMom.

Is it too cool for dresses in June? I'm from the South, we're already reaching temps of 90 degrees here. I have never been North besdies a dance trip to Cinncinnati, and that trip was freezing. LOTS OF SNOW, but it was Feb so I have no idea how it gets come June?

Hi ya! great Idea lets talk about what to bring.
camera, tide pen, tissues, tide pen LOL
Don't wear to much make up we don't want to get that on the uniform.
The material sajest mentioned is the waterproof sheeting for cribs. I think it will be better then a towel/

As for clothes I posted on my facebook. Hum, I have 7.5 weeks to decide what to wear to PIR. on the day he left. folks laughed and said good thing I have time to plan.
A reminder to the southern folks heading North. Our temps are cooler then yours. Bring a jacket and you will want pants most likely. The wind in Chicago is crazy.
Oh and anyone want to take their sailor to the American Doll store and have tea? LOL just kidding. It's a family joke with 3 boys when we went to Chicago a few years back we told the boys we would see as much as we could but if they complained or got into it with each other then we were headed straight for the tea! Needless to say we had a wonderful time.

Check your local museums and see if they offer membership that is accepted in Chicago. Great Lakes Science center has a membership that is accepted in a lot of Chicago places. and can be gotten online.

Well good nite to all.

My son is on Ship 11 Div 211. Does anyone else have a loved one in the same ship and div? I am going crazy!!! I hve received the box and the form letter but I haven't heard from him at all. A week ago I read that so many moms received a phone call, I must have cried for a whole day. I know no news is good news but I'm not sure how much more I can handle. I love him so much and am sooooo proud of him. I know he is making us proud I just miss him.

Dear JessicaB-SailorMom,
Thanks for the clarification about the mail! It sure was nice to get the call.

My son is in the same division as Nukewife's husband - Ship 11 Div 215. We also got a call from a pay phone this afternoon - area code (847). My son has not received any mail yet either and I have been mailing things since last Saturday. He said something about the mail not being "released" yet so I don't know if it gets held for a certain time or if they have to "earn" the privilege of getting it. Maybe some of the moms who have recruits that are ahead of ours know how this mail thing works. Hopefully by mid week there were be some letters in our mailboxes.
