Kim, I'm just learning as I go. If you, or anyone wants to leave some way for a sailor to contact you on the page, that would be great. Otherwise, I guess I can have them contact me and I will contact you here. Might not be time for all that -- I'll work on this. Would be nice to get families involved across the country via word of mouth :)

Thanks for doing that Tess. If you need someone in Montana let me know!

Hi All. I went ahead and created a facebook page called "Sailors Home" (had to make it appear to be a name in order to be accepted on FB) and attached it to my own page under "Tess Larsen Tobaben". Please see "note" on the Sailors Home page which explains that the page was created in order to begin a list of places where a sailor or recruit can stop to rest, use the phone or maybe have something to eat in their travels. Maybe we can add other helpful information as well. Just an idea (which we recently talked about). So far, I have only entered my email address. Want to be careful about giving private information. Need to be safe too. Your input is appreciated. Oh yeah, I noticed somewhere on this site that there was a similar post for traveling sailors. I don't think anyone has used FB yet tho.

Jan, Thanks for the tip on boxers at JC Pennys, I will stop in this week and stock pile. lol

Pam- I found them at JC Penneys and they were on sale this week - buy 1 get 1 free.  That sure helped as I bought 6 packs of them.

I never thought about M&M's, I will have to try it, great idea!

I've heard that after their deployment they get rid of most of the stuff because it smells like the ship. I guess that's why they need so many boxers...lol.

Comment by JudyB. on January 5, 2011 at 8:31pm
Hey Joyce, I was thinking about the all tride and true M&M's.  I heard somewhere that they were invented for the military so that they keep better while traveling cause of the coated shell; plus who doesn't like a nut in chocolate every once in a while...right?! LOL
Comment by Joyce - NavyMom Oceana on January 5, 2011 at 7:50pm

The Enterprise is scheduled to deploy next week. I'm planning on going to the hail and fairwell. I'm really excited about it, I know I'm going to be a blubbering mess.

Kim, Wayne did tell me how cold it is on the ship. We went and bought him a nice warm sleeping bag. I will send him lots of extra boxers once he's gone. =)

I heard chocolate is not good to ship, it melts by the time it reaches them. But there is plenty of other junk we can send. I think I'm more excited then Wayne is...lol.
