Good morning ladies. Hope everyone is doing well. Just had to share that Lucas called last night of his own free will and we talked for 1 hour! You could have bowled me over with a feather :0) The best part was that I had him all to myself since my husband was working late last night. WooHoo!!

Joanne, sorry to hear you were sick. Hoping and praying you get a new job soon!
Kim, so happy Derek finally got the Easter box. You did a wonderful thing sending treats to his roomies. You are truly a special mom.
Hey Cindy.
Have a wonderful day ladies!

Kim, so sorry to hear about Derek. He should at least show some gratitude for what you did. Boys! They will drive you to drink. Although my sister who has 2 girls and 1 boy would disagree with us. LOL! I think it's just the age. Hang in there! Hopefully, things will get better. Luke will be 22 on Saturday and it's the first time we won't be with him for his birthday. When I told him that he said "Oh well". I guess it means more to us than to him. I was always so anal about him having to have a cake, make a wish and blow out the candles. Now when I think about it, I have to shake my head. The things I always thought so important aren't anymore and it's a little depressing.
Poor Joanne. I'm so sorry for all the heartache.
Take care, ladies!

Yes. He gets a housing allowance. He also gets BAS but I don't know what that is. I'll have to find out.

Cindy, got the pictures. Thanks!
I did get info from the Nuke Moms site about renting apts and Luke's been on the website looking at them. He now has to see if anyone is going to be sharing with him. Then we can go from there. We had planned to get to GC on May 11 and leave on May 17 so we are sticking with our plans and then drive back together. After that we will have to go up and check things out.
Kim, It's Balston Spa, NY. It is where the Prototype School is for Nukes. There are two....one there and one in Goose Creek, SC. Prototype is the last school before Nukes get assigned to Ships or Subs.

Laura, I second what Kim said. Great advice! But I do think that being a RN or a teacher is a calling. I went to school for teaching and taught 3rd grade for a few years in a Catholic school making peanuts because there were no jobs when I graduated in the public schools. When I was offered another job making a lot more money I thought I'd take it for a little while and then go back to teaching. It didn't work out that way but I can say that I loved the time I spent teaching.
On another note, Luke just called and he got his orders....he's going to Ballston Spa right after graduation on May 14th. He gets 17 or 19 days before he has to report and in that time he has to find an apartment and move furniture from our house to the apartment. My head is spinning! Once he reports he will be on hold for 2 months before Prototype school starts. He is so excited that he got the place he wanted and he doesn't have to wait too long on hold before school starts. It was so nice to hear his voice.
