OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Follow this link for OPSEC Guidelines:

**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).  Still limited to 2 guests maximum.

Specific information on this policy change will be provided in the coming days and weeks.

We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience and appreciate your support.

RTC Graduation

**UPDATE 7/16/2021**

**UPDATE - 2020**

Due to COVID there is no public PIR. The graduations are on Thursday, and the video of the graduation is posted on RTC's FaceBook on Friday at approx 3pm. Please keep in mind that a division may need to complete additional quarantine during training which will delay their graduation.

Please note! Changes to this guide happened in October 2017. Tickets are now issued for all guests, and all guests must have a ticket to enter base. A separate parking pass is no longer needed to drive on to base for parking.

Please see changes to attending PIR in the PAGES column. The PAGES are located under the member icons on the right side.

Hello moms. No letter today but there's always tomorrow. Has everyone booked there hotel?

Received my first letter today!  so looking foward to PIR!  Just want to say thanks for starting the group!

Hey...!  I got a letter yesterday.  We booked hotel last week.  My son said it wasn't too bad...he misses us and some of the "little things" at home that we all take for granted.  I was very happy to hear from him!!
Hi there. Hope everyone is having a good day. My sons recruiter called to check on me today. I thought that was nice. Her and I had a bad start but by the time my son left we had become friends. It was nice to hear her remind me that he can get through this.
Good start to the weekend.

Guidelines for security

It is always better (especially post BC) to make your personal page
private so that only your accepted N4M friends can see your page.
(Angie's note: as an onsite mentor, I interact with MANY new
Moms/Members all the time. Accepting friend requests constantly so that
I can answer a question here and there is impractical for me. However,
I have chosen to make my page viewable only to N4Ms members-not just
anyone looking in from the internet, and suggest that at the very least
you do the same! I also have chosen to moderate all comments on my page

FYI: The default sets up your account so you don't even have to be a
member here to see your page. So here are the steps to follow...

1. Click on Settings (where your inbox is)
2. Click on Privacy.
3. Go through the categories and make sure that they are marked "Just my
friends" I also have mine marked "Wait for my approval" on comments
left on my page. This way, I can moderate in case someone writes something personal I
don't want seen/shared/advertised, or that really shouldn't be read by others due to it's Spec Ops/OPSEC nature.

Hope this helps get you all off to a secure start! Remember to make friend
requests of Group members you come to know and trust. Also, please
always use your PM (Private Message) options when sharing specific info
about your Sailor or the details of their training.

Hi all. Just wanted to help you get off on the right foot here. There are things that loved ones with 800 Division Spec Opps Recruits (Pre Buds/SEALS, SWCC. EOD, SAR-Rescue Swimmers etc) must be extra mindful and aware of from the get go...

FYI - posted by our former Navy For Mom's Admin Elle a few months ago:

"After speaking with NRC and members of the SEAL community, we are requesting that NO photos of any of your loved ones that are current or future SEALs are posted on this site - period. This includes profile photos. Per our existing site guidelines - please be sure to make no mention of sailor last names or contact information.

Thank you for your compliance!"

FYI: All 800 Divisions are made up solely of Spec Opps Recruits. They will have more PT (Physical Training) than the other Divisions. They develop teamwork like the others, only the Recruits from other Divisions are often scattered and sent to many different "A" schools and such after PIR for further training. Spec Opps Recruits headed eventually towards SEALS training in Coronado CA, will stay together and move as a team over to Pre Buds in GL first for further intense physical training. The Div # from BC is dropped, and they will be assigned to a new three digit Class #. The other Spec Opps Sailors will also move on to their next schools after PIR, in Florida and elsewhere.

I have made a separate OPSEC discussion. Please familiarize yourself with all aspects. We must do everything in our power to protect all of our Sailors, ESPECIALLY those in Spec Opps! Be deliberately mindful, always, think before you post. If in doubt, use that little "x' button to delete and/or edit, or p.m. a more "seasoned" Mom and ask if if would be o.k. to share what you want to post. Check with your Sailor too and see what their preferences are, or what they have been instructed to do, or not. Less said the better. Also, pictures speak a thousand words, but they also sometimes give away too much information about your loved one! Its not an easy path your Recruit has chosen. They need all the help, support and protection you can give! Best wishes to all of your amazing Recruits HOOYAH!

my hubby is in this DIV and last i heard was SIQ and verrrrrry sick. cant wait til wednesday, hopefully a few more letters.

Information for those with Seal Contracts

Once your recruit moves to Pre-BUD/s they will be told what class they will be for BUD/s, then you may ask permission to join the class that they will be in.  Please do not ask to join prior to their PIR.

"Kim and the boys" has kindly put the links to all of the current Class Groups in the intro to the Pre Buds Group (main page). Just click on your Class link to join. (For Classes 273-283) You will probably find that the newer BUDS Class Groups are now being made as Private Groups, not viewable by anyone on or offsite who isn't also a member of that Group. You will have to make a request to join any of those.

The creator of the Group will then have to approve your request (you will be, as long as you have a Sailor assigned there or perhaps are a known N4M friend to those in the Group) Once you are screened and accepted, it will not show up to anyone looking at your "My Groups" on your personal profile page, but you will be able to post comments and join in the conversation with all the other members of that specific Class Group. :-)

You may continue also to be a member of the Pre Buds Group here as well, to keep posting and reading comments on the main wall. Just always keep in mind that any comments and information posted here in Pre Buds (or any other Public Group on site) are viewable immediately to anyone, anywhere on the world wide web, as the Pre Buds Group is a publically accessible Group on N4Ms!!! Any comments posted that contain a specific Class number can easily be Googled and found, leading people here (sometimes the wrong people) so the less said the better. We suggest that you save specific info like that for the Private Groups and in your PMs (Private Messages)

BTW; just to clarify, the members who post in this Pre Buds Group represent all BUDS Classes, past, present and future. It is a place for general discussion and support, much like our PIR Groups are. Buckle up, it's quite a ride! If you have any questions please feel free to ask me here or by pm.

Hi all. Was wondering if anyone has heard from anyone in our group. I only have had one letter from my son and of course no call. Hopefully after this week we will get a call. I ordered the ribbons for the ceremony. I didn't put my sons name on them but instead out proud mom and proud sisters.

Hope everyone is having a wonderful Sunday!,,
What are the ribbons for the ceremony you mentioned....?
A woman named Lala on these boards make these beautiful ribbons for us to wear at PIR. You can look here up on the first PIR page. Hope this helps.
