Hello, ladies wanting to let you know I have a son on ship 09 DIV 191

Ok - I need some help - my son doesn't want me to tell his dad about graduation but his brother thinks I should

we are divorced and he lives in Chicago area - we live in TX - so they don't have much of a relationship

should I go with my son's request????   or tell his dad and let him decide if he can make it??????

Wow, I too am divorced.  I asked Dave his "man" opinion and he thinks you should tell dad.  Me, (looking out for the best interest of my child) says what if you invite or tell Dad and he blows it off?  I would not use one of my tickets for this person, if he wants to stand outside on the off chance that he'll get to watch the PIR then so be it.  I guess the obvious question is does dad know about BC and the fact that there will be a PIR and has he inquired?  My ex and I don't have regular chats but fortunately he does have a pretty swell wife and we manage to get along together in social situations....we all attended Britt's college graduation in Chicago without a hitch and even stayed in the same hotel.  Sometimes it's really hard to be "the mom" since we are the "guards" of our children....so wonder some wild animals eat their young, it's just easier!  Keep me posted.  Robin

Thanks Robin

I won't be giving up my tickets for him - but thought I would just tell him  like you said........that was my opinion - also thought if i waited long enough he may not be able to get off work - then there is no issues....lol   I sent Ger a letter to ask - the tough part is we will only get a limited time with him after graduation and i really don't want to share - :(   his dad lives really close to base...............

I hate being in this position - but guess I will have to be the big person and let him know................

hope his dad has written him at least a few letters - wil make it easier for me to be ok with telling him the details

thanks Robin!!!!

well his dad just texted me for graduation info.................grrrrrrr  guess I have to be nice
Yes, be nice! U dont half to sit by him LOL!! What tickets is Robin talking about!

Stac, each SR gets ONLY 4 tickets for graduation and they are not actually tickets if I understand correctly.  The original form letter I received from Dustin had four spaces available for names of those attending PIR.  ONLY the people listed are permitted to attend and only the SR can change the names.

ok that it explains everything! Thanks!
I would have ur other son to tell him about the graduation! If he shows you didnt tell him! Going to graduation is abig deal I think the dad should know! If his name is not on list he will not be able to get!

Thanks to both of you!  I textd him and told him I heard from Ger- he asked about graduation and how many tickets he got - told him 4 - and he seemed ok with that answer - told me that he lives an hour away - but told him Ger could only go 50 miles from base (not sure if that is the right numbr but close) and he would have to come to us if he wanted to spend a little time with us.......actually was a decent conversation ....... guess he finally growing up some  lol

thanks for listening - this has been killing me.........I really want the kids to have a relationship with their dad - but I can't force it to happen
