Let's help those who are coming to PIR by themselves find each other so that no one is traveling alone from the airport to Great Lakes.

jgoody - my son's in GC, too. He said he clases up (ET) on Monday. They will have a week of briefings, and then it all begins. However, they did already have the "STD/protection" class..........only a mom can be thankful for that!
How about yours?

I know that I come back to this site at least a couple of times a day, just to stay in touch. I'm glad to see that there is still activity, & that what I'm feeling isn't so out of the norm. Yes, very different from college! Crikes, my daughter came home every weekend & is now home for the summer.
I'll get used to it, I guess . . .

Jgoody I too do not receive any calls from my son. His fiance gets them all. I am very fortunate that she shares what he has to say with us. Matt is also in GC. He does have access to a computer in the evening and has some time since school doesn't start until 6/21 for him. He has been in AIM a couple of times where I could talk to him for a couple of minutes. Its funny, this depression is not just hitting moms. My husband has been walking around a bit down as well. I told him that all of you feel the same way which I think really helped him. Matt and his Fiance will be getting married soon too for the same reasons but that will be a very small wedding for now which won't require much time. I just came back from a Cancer Society "Relay for Life". I don't know if they are all over the country. So I walked some laps for cancer, that made me feel better.

I wrote Jamie a one page letter to go with his phone and lap top! It does seem "weird" now. I have probably watched the PIR video twenty times and still get goose bumps everytime the announcer yells "Liberty Call!!!"

Hi everyone,
I have not been able to find to many people from my son's div that PIR 6/4. My son's girlfriend and I always looked forward to Wednesday's because we got our letters then. This week we got a 5 am wake up call from GL saying that he was getting ready to leave the airport. My son got to P-cola and met his room mate and borrowed his cell to call his girlfriend. He spoke with her long enough to give her his new address and asked us to overnight his phone to him. But no call for Mom!! LOL. I just hope the address was correct. It was way to simple of an address.
We live in FL and are looking forward to hearing when and where we might get to see him again. He is the oldest of 4 children and we are very tight. My other children miss there big brother soooo much. (They did not get to go to PIR due to the end of school.)

Also I have gone to the mail box everyday this week looking for a letter. I sure hope he still writes a few but he is not much of a writer when he has his phone and computer.

Someone lease tell me an easy way to find all of you on Facebook. I swear I do not navigate very well on the computer.

So now that Ethan is at his A school and has his phone we talk to him quite a bit which is great. I agree with all of you that PIR was amazing but now it feels like there should be more. I do have more now because Megan and Ethan are now planning on getting married as soon as possible so that she can move to his first duty station with him. they are talking about getting married in Great Lakes which means another trip up there probably in August some time. I am really glad that they are getting married and can not wait. Nothing like planning a long distance wedding. It will be a really quick get married at the Justice of the Peace with just the parents and then she wants to have a wedding for all of the family here at home while he is on leave.

I actually miss writing the letters. I've been thinking that I will continue to write. I know what you mean about getting mail; it surely was precious to me while he was at boot camp. I carried those letters in my purse everywhere. I've always gone to the mailbox with the hope that there would be something fun in it. Mostly bills anymore, but always hoping for something random & fun.

JGoody (Jaime) - I understand what you are saying about the "let down" period. I know I've gotten enough sleep this week, but I still feel a little depressed - but I know I'm happy. Strange.... Too much build up of 8 weeks of stress I guess, and you had more than us because your son was hurt!

Kids are funny, they sometimes only call us when they need something - my oldest is like that, although we spoke more when his brother was gone to bc. Hang in there - you always have me and the rest of us stalkers!

SusanM - if you friend me, I will give you my email address which is the fastest way to find someone on Facebook.

I posted a few pictures on my N4M profile page, but there's more on my Facebook page.
