Let's help those who are coming to PIR by themselves find each other so that no one is traveling alone from the airport to Great Lakes.

OMG Sobe what a great story. I cried just reading it so I can't imagine actually being there.

I am so sad that I didn't get to meet you all at the M&G. I can't wait until I can ship my son his cell phone and Mp3 player. We were lucky enough to spend time with him all weekend, but he could not have his phone. We had to leave Sunday morning and he wasn't flying out until this morning. I will mail them as soon as I hear from him.

All the sailors looked so handsome in their uniforms, handsome men. I was also impressed by the 1/10 of 1% statistic. God Bless them all.

Thank you for helping me through this also. I have really enjoyed reading all of your posts. God Bless you all too!

Lizzie - Wow. You had a very eventful trip! You poor thing and your poor daughter! Although things do happen for a reason and you were able to get the call!! We actually got ours as we were checking into the hotel and with the choas of all that going on I just handed Jamie's friend the phone!! They also got time taken away for doing something wrong. Love your picture!!

I don't know if anyone knows it or not, but you can stop the e-mails by pressing the Stop Following link right below the box that you type your message in.

Thanks again to you all for making this journey with me! I'm leaving this group now to cut down on the amount of notices I receive from the N4M site, and to focus on the nukes aspects, where my son and his family will be! It's pretty great to realize the journey is continuing, and all of us have sailors who will now be learning and serving...I appreciate you all! Blessings to you! MV

Sobe, thanks for sharing your heartwarming stories. I also want to thank you all for sharing during this emotional period. Although I didn't contribute much, I read your comments every day (morning & night) and it was a much needed connection with my son.
Our family had to go home Friday night so it was just the two of us for the weekend and we had a wonderful time. Hard to say goodbye, but he is so happy and excited to move on to A School that it makes it a bit easier. Thanks again everyone!

SusanM - Yes, I am one of those having an emotional hangover! Of course, we only got home at 2am this morning and I am so tired, but needed to log on to this site (N4M addiction!).

Paula - what we witnessed at the airport was so wonderful, I was so proud of those guys! My son was shocked at the clapping, it took a moment for it to sink in why they were clapping, then he just smiled!

I LOVE all the calls and texts I have received since Saturday! I hope those who Sailors are not at A-school yet get those calls real soon. It was nice being able to hand him his cell at the airport - it was a totally selfish act on my part, because I wanted him to call me!!!

Denise - where are you?? I wish we could of met face to face, I was really looking forward to that. Don't worry though, Jaime (JGoody) handed me a cute little gift bag at PIR - you'll never guess what was in it (hint - they were Navy blue!). Explaining that gift to my son back at the hotel room was pretty interesting! It's official, he thinks I've lost it and so have the others on this site. I told him he was correct and left it at that!

sobe... I agree that was a great moment at the airport and I was so happy to spend the extra time with Josh at the airport. Josh has been moved into permanent quarters in Fl. and has started the routine and it is so nice that he can call, I have received calls everyday since he left. We had a family friend leave for bootcamp today in Great Lakes said goodbyes today to her today. We have another one leaving in July. And so the story goes on!

We had a wonderful time at PIR! You can watch all the videos and they just do not compare to being there. Made many firends that I hope to stay in touch with. Thank you to all of you without your sincere friendship this process would have been alot harder.

When leaving the airport I took a picture of a bunch of NEW SAILORS sitting in a restaurant and it is a keeper I will try to post it this week so that you can see if your son is in it I know Jen's son was in it and I will send it to you Jen!

I need to share one more thing about this last weekend:

The BEST part of the whole weekend was at the airport. First the airline invited all first class passengers to board, then they announced all Military personnel to board - when that happened, these guys all stood up at once and all the other passengers from the surrounding 6 gates starting clapping!! And it was one of those long drawn-out claps that just made my eyes swell up. Our sailors didn't know what to think, but boy were they smiling and feeling so honored and proud at that moment. I will never forget that - and either will those Sailors!!

And to top off the day, a small group of Sailors were sitting with my son at TGIF's in the airport in Atlanta - waiting for their next flight. A man walked up to their table to greet them, then he thanked each one for their service, and then he handed them $50 to help cover their meal! Brandon is sure the guy was once in the Navy. He couldn't believe someone would do that, especially with this economy.

I just posted a video of Liberty Call on my Facebook page. If anyone would like to see it, send me an e-mail with your e-mail address so that I can send you an invite. I go from crying to laughing to smiling everytime I see it!!

Hello Ladies! We didn't get home (Northern Calif) until 2am this morning and we are exhausted, but smiling! PIR was TERRIFIC! I loved meeting Paula, Elizabeth, Jaime and Cathy! Wish I would of been able to connect with more of you - especially Denise!

I am so grateful for everything I learned on N4M, especially this group and the A-school group (Pensacola) because the advice I was given made the trip so much better. GPS in the rental car was a gift from above! For $12 a day, it was soooo worth it. There were lots of sailors who were shocked that we got to go through security at the Midway airport with our sailor. RDC's and others had told them it wouldn't be allowed, so they said goodbye to their parents on Friday night - I had 4 1/2 hrs with my son on Saturday! We met a lot of his division buddies that day and really enjoyed them!

I have some good advice I will give the Boot Camp Mom's group. Driving was a piece of cake for us, they didn't search our car (it was a random thing) and we got into the building by 7am and had seats in the second row. The binoculars allowed us to spot Brandon immediately (those kids looked all alike even from the 2nd row!).

I will continue to post to this group, but I am sure we will find ourselves spending more time on our sailors A-school groups. Please friend me and I will give out my email address - I live on Facebook too!

I'll write more when I've had more rest!
