Let's help those who are coming to PIR by themselves find each other so that no one is traveling alone from the airport to Great Lakes.

Ughhh!! My friend doesn't know if she can drive me now, she doesn't know if she can miss two days of work financially.. I understand but now I do have to depend on his parents. I doubt mine would be willing to drop everything just to take me..

what do cryptologist do? just break codes??
i am kind of close with this family, more with his brother and sister than parents. he left on April 12. I check this site everyday, quite often actually. I have made plans but I don't know if I should make hotel reservations or anything just yet. Like I originally asked to go with his parents but then they said only a limited amount can go, and I don't know if I'd be part of that limited amount... least from what his mother said.. I'm sure she'd prefer to take her family before taking me. But my friend offered (the day after he left) to drive me if his family wouldn't take me. and i told her the situation so she's still willing if his parents don't take me.

JessicaB I just love you and your knowledge. I believe that I will try and make sure that I pay it forward the same way you are one day.

repanda you really need to stay on this site because you get so much info here. trust me we are all here for you if you need to talk. You really just need to make your own plans to go so that you make sure you are at least there for him. Are you close to his family? My sons girlfriend and I are very close and we are relying on each other to share any kind of communication either of us get. They only have a limited amount of free time so I am sure they do not have much time to write. When did your boyfriend leave?

Our son's sound very much alike! How old is Ethan? My Jamie is 20.

I really hope Ethan is not to homesick either because I had the same kind of experience one summer when he went on vacation with a friend. I think he was 10 or 11. Every night he would call home and tell me that he could not go to sleep because he just needed me. Then he told me to send him an airline ticket because he could not bear it anymore. I hope the years have calmed his nerves and home sickness. At any rate I guess he really has no choice because he is in for at least 5 years now. I am sure he will be fine. He is a very sociable kid and makes friends any where he goes.

Shelly: No letter for us today either. There's one more day for mail so if not Saturday, then hopefully next week. Knowing my son, he is homesick something awful (not kidding - he went to camp one time and wanted to come home after three days) so it may be easier for him to just get our letters than to send some right now. I'm going by the assumption that no news is good news.
