I bet most of them will get sick at some point......look at your son's SIQ as getting it out of the way early! (All of us feel bad for him....and you..and none of us want our kids to feel soooooooooooo sick.) Keep your chin up!

Awesome hint about sending sports news. I'm printing articles off about the Braves now to him!

My package I sent Tuesday was pretty thick also and I was actually worried about it being held up. I assume that it gets opened before it's given to the Recruit.

Thanks to all of you for sharing your info. Hubby hasn't called yet and I'm still sticking by my word. I had made him promise last week that he wouldn't open the form letter before I got home from work so fair is fair. Although now I'm really wanting to know what he has to say because he still has his wisdom teeth too, or he did two weeks ago! elizabeth77 thank you so much for adding the daily schedule. I'm sure the bathroom term will come in handy too! We won't look so startled the first time we hear it! I looked up "the head" a couple of weeks ago after my grandson asked what that meant. In the clippership days the sailors would go to the bow of the ship to urinate, up by the figurehead. After all the years of hearing my father say he was going to the head, I had my aha moment.

Knowing my son Jamie (especially if he got five shots), it would not be post-worthy! Gosh, I miss him terribly! Everytime I see the Go Dogs name, I want to cry! We're originally from Chicago, but moved to Georgia 10 years ago and became huge fans of the Georgia University Bulldogs and my son's number on the football team all through high school was 85, so LOTS of memories! He's our oldest so there's always that weird connection. Thanks again for all the information and letters, it is helping me and my husband tremendously!

My son is the same way about shots....not the dentist but that's because he has gone to the same one his whole life. He went every six months and was not experiencing any pain before he left. His dentist said they were there but not impacted. I guess they just pretty much take them out if you've got them.

Jessica B He has never had a problem knowing what to write. He is a good little reporter, always has been. His biggest problem is having enough time to cram it all in. I don't think he was trying to be funny. I think it was all written in reporting style. The Pump and Dump is most likely the military term for it. That's nothing he has used in the past. I could not figure out the tone of his letter. I know he wrote it from his bunk because he was SIQ. I hope I get another one soon that was written on Sunday. This was from Thursday. I'm sooo glad this won't delay his grad.

Agreed on the letters from other recruits! I love reading about the other kids' experience. My son is extremely squeamish about shots and surgery so I can only imagine what's going through his head! Which totally amazes me why he wants to be a Corpsman! I really wish now that we'd had his wisdom teeth taken out.
