Let's help those who are coming to PIR by themselves find each other so that no one is traveling alone from the airport to Great Lakes.

the web address to access for you to check availability is www.sagcomm.rovia.com, this will by-pass all the other info and get you directly to the information to enter for your flights. Hope this helps.

I have read about a lot of people having issues with travel rates for airfare. My fiance is graduating June 4th as well and I just so happen to work for a travel agent. We were able to get our flights for 152.00 + tax from DFW. If you would like to compare rates and see if we could possibly get them cheaper for you please let me know. My contact info is megan@sagcomm.com or go to our website at www.sagcomm.worldventures.biz We also found it cheaper to fly into Milwaukee (MKE) rather than Chicago (CHI), and it is still the same distance (45 miles) to Great Lakes. We got car rental for $121.00 for Thursday thru Monday, just thought I would see if we can save you money so that you can get to your loved one! Take care and God Bless!

ordered some college cataloges...got some friends checking on some leads for a job. he is gonna be ok. he is an amazing kid, so i hope he will bounce back pretty quick. the coast guard is really hard to get in. they are a smaller branch of the military so they can be really picky. he talked to them before the navy. i'll just be glad when he gets home. every thing else will work itself out. thank you again for all the support...it really means so much to me. talk to you guys later.

As with everything else with our kids the best thing we can do is to just be there.
Just from the short time we've been posting I'm sure that he's coming home to a supportive family. I hope that he can draw strength from that. I used to think that it would be easier once they had grown up but I'm finding that the challenges are just different. It may be minute by minute for a while, then day by day. (then minute by minute again...) Your younger kids may be the distraction and the blessings that you and Josh will draw strenght from for a while.

when he went in his rate was gse..they offered him an interview for the job he originally wanted...arial rescue diver...he interveiwed and got the rate. they had to do another more invasive physical due to the job requirements then they would give him his contract...had already moved him to another ship and division...the results of the xrays came back and they told him. he asked if he could go back to gse and they said no because the back problem will only get worse as he gets older. the thing is...everyone in his dads family including his dad has a problem with their back. i really thought he had misssed the gene. i feel so bad for him. he said that even though he was really homesick...he was really starting to like it. he is afraid of what people will say when he gets home...that he wussed out. but this is something that he couldnt possibly have any control over. thank you for support...once again this is where i seem to draw my strength. i am so sad that i'm not gonna be there to meet any of you. he said they told him he could have one suvinneer ( i cant spell)...he got real quite and said he is gonna get me my navy mom t shirt that he new i wanted. thats just like him to think about his momma. but i told him to get something he wanted, this was his experience to remember not mine. how do i fix this? how can i make this better? its not a scrapped up knee or even heartbreak over a girl...this is his life's dream offered to him then taken away. i know and have faith that God knows what he's doing and htat he is in control of the situation, but man i wish he would fill me in once in awhile.

Dear Joshua's Mom. I'm sooo sorry for you and most importantly Joshua. To have your dream taken away is something extremely hard to deal with at any time in your life. I will keep you and him in my thoughts and prayers. I have ALWAYS believed things happen for a reason but I do know that it is a hard thing to really feel when you feel you have a purpose and someone is taking it away and it is out of your control. Again, so sorry, I can't even put it into words.

Oh Joshua'smom, I am so sorry to hear this...I know the disappointment must be huge. Please know we will be praying for you, your family, and for Joshua, as he determines his next step. (and I live in Boone). Psalm 34:18.

just got a call from josh...they are sending him home. they did xrays of his back and said he has a unnatural curvature of his spine that they say is unrepairable by navy standards so they have to medically discharge him. i'm so disappointed for him. this is not a good day.

I'm booking a room at the SpringHill Suites in Waukegan. It came highly recommended by someone I know that just had her husband graduate from bootcamp. They have a heated indoor pool, so my 3 1/2 year old is going to love that! They also offer a shuttle service to graduation for $3 per person.
