For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Please note! Changes to this guide happened in October 2017. Tickets are now issued for all guests, and all guests must have a ticket to enter base. A separate parking pass is no longer needed to drive on to base for parking.

Great idea, ohevetbeni. You won't regret doing that, navygirl. I would not try to do all of the walking in the heels...but you can take them for inside the PIR hall...however, you may be "kicking them off" to run to your sailor at liberty call! :-)

When I went to my son's PIR we dressed for comfort. It is going to be really really hot at GL. I would definitely not wear heals. I would wear nice pants with flat sandals and a pretty top. Something light weight.

As far as what to wear, be comfortable. You will see everything from flashy to too casual, find something that is nice but comfortable. I had a blast watching the people and for some I wondered what they were thinking when they decided to wear what they did, this may mean different things for different people. I wore nice jeans and a nice top, it may be hot and muggy and you want to be as cool as possible.

i want to look nice for my sailor though lol im thinkin a cute sun dress since thats light and comfortable and sandals or wedges which are like heels with a thick base that are easy to walk in

Ladies...think that a white skirt and cute top with flat sandels will work for a hot July? I will not get to run to my son after PIR as he has already told me he has to go straght away to put away is sax...so I will be standing watching, waiting and passing.

One thing to remember is that there is no PDA allowed, they are not allowed to hold hands and other rules that you want to make sure and follow. It may seem silly but it is the way it is, respect the rules so that your loved ones do not get into trouble.

what about holding the had of a child? That will be hard to prevent and explain.

I hope someone knows this answer. I have an autistic child that will go nowhere with out his Nintendo DS. Do you think he will be able to take it to the PIR ? If not I need to start talking to him about it now so maybe it will be a non issue.
