My son reported to bootcamp on May 18.  His wife received the "box" on May 24 & the form letter on May 31.  She also received a quick call on June 1 because my son needed his son's Social Security Card faxed to him.

I haven't received any letters or phone calls yet!!  Still waiting patiently!!  I did put a card & letter in the mail yesterday.  I saw a post where it said to stay away from colored envelopes.  Oops!!  I wish I would have seen that yesterday!! LOL!!  I heard about not sending musical cards but didn't know about colored envelopes.  I had given my son a card at his going away party and he wanted me to send it to him as soon we got his address since he couldn't take it with him.  My son's friend reported to bootcamp on May 17 and his wife received a letter from him on June 3 & 4.

Hopefully I will get a letter soon!!  =)

my husband is in the same division as your son, unfortunetly i still have yet to hear from him. are you folks going to PIR?

Yes ma'am!!  I'm still working on travel and hotel arrangements.  Are you going?

I just received my first real letter yesterday.  Hopefully you will receive a letter soon.  Keep writing your husband because I have seen posts that the SR's are receiving their mail.  I have not gotten a phone call but I believe he will call his wife when he is able to call.  She did hear from him once because he needed some information but no "real" phone call yet.  I saw a post that said SR's will be able to make phone calls during their 4th week so I'm hoping he will get to call next week.

My son is in this division and left on May 18, also.  I've received three letters, so he's been a good writer so far.  Sounds upbeat and well and he's definitely receiving and responding to my letters.  Still, I'd love to talk with him and I'm patiently waiting for that first phone call.  I hope you are correct, Brandon's Mom, and that call will come in the 4th week.  We're almost there.

We've made our reservations and plans for PIR on 7/15.  Tyler has two younger sisters and an older brother.  Everyone (including Grandma and Grandpa) will be coming with us.  Still hoping the ticket situation will work out.  We need more than four.

From what I've been told from previous SR families that the four names on the list are gauranteed seating but there has never been a problem with seating for additional guests.  We have a small PIR compared to some of the others that I have seen so hopefully that will remain true.

Great to hear this.  It's nice that you have some "inside info."  I'm very hopeful that we'll all be able to attend.  Tyler says he hasn't heard a word about additional tickets or how or when they become available.  If you get any more info on the subject, please share.

Thanks!

I talked to the previous SR parents again for clarification.  They said that the SR's will not be allowed to add any more names to their list but once the guests that are on all the SR's lists are admitted other guests will be allowed in if there is available seating remaining. So, that explains why Tyler hasn't heard anything about additional tickets.  I guess no one will know for sure if other guests will be allowed in until PIR day but the previous parents said there was always additional seating available.

This site is a good luck charm.  Just got my first phone call - 22 minutes of happiness.  My son is doing well, as is all of Div. 229.  Sooooooo good to hear his voice.  He sounds great.  Very mature and confident.  I wish I was more well versed on all the lingo.  He had to keep explaining things to me.  I asked him if he knows a "Brandon" and he doesn't really know anyone's first name.  They call everyone by their last names all the time.

I hope everyone got phone calls today.  Really makes your day!

That is awesome!!  So happy that you got to talk to your SR.  No phone call for me or my daughter-in-law today.  :(

I don't know if you have seen this yet or not but here is a link I found for a family guide that gives some explanation to the military lingo.

I found the information helpful.

Wow.  Great information.  Thanks for posting the link.  Two more letters from Tyler yesterday and he managed to get one out to his aunt, too.  Makes me happy. :0)

Hi Brandon's Mom,

My son knows your son.  They were bunk mates during the P-hold days.  Tyler told me a bit about Brandon in the letter I received yesterday.

Sounds like everything is still going well for their division.  Really looking forward to graduation.  Maybe we'll see you there.

Oh wow, that is so cool!!  Such a small world.  When I write to him I will have to mention Tyler.  Where is Tyler going to A-school?  Brandon is going to Ft. Meade, Maryland.

I still haven't talked to Brandon.  He did call his wife last week.  She didn't tell me until a few days later.  He said he missed the first round of calls because he had a root canal done & was put on bed rest.  I was surprised he needed a root canal.  He went to the dentist every 6 months and it was never mentioned.  Oh well.

Brandon said the division is doing a lot of push-ups!!

I can't wait to see him.  We are counting down the days.  =)
