Rob - you didn't "steal" it, you shared it and I'm glad you did.

Linda B: I'll post pictures of the whole PIR 07/08. No problem!

MidwestMom: Glad you are attending meetNgreet! I'll see you there!

I stole that post from someone on the RTC facebook page and had to post it.

Luvmyboy - We wouldn't miss our son's PIR, but are lucky because it is within driving distance.  I plan on attending the Meet & Greet with my husband, but assume my other kids will find something else to do than meet a bunch of crazy N4M moms!  :)  They think I'm addicted.

Rob - I LOVE your comment. Thanks for sharing and adding a bit of humor to this intense time. I know we're all sitting on pins and needles waiting for phone calls and letters. Only 40 days 13 hours and 28 minutes left until PIR! Congrats to all who have received calls from your loved ones. We're still waiting for ours and hope it will be tomorrow.

Just a reminder to hold tight when you see others getting phone calls and you are not.  During BC I only heard from my son 2x the I'm here call and then about 1/2 way, gf got the I'm a sailor call.  After they are out of BC the lines of communication open up and it is better.  No news is good news!

Thanks for that comment, Rob.  Always am thankful for a chuckle!

This is the 3rd phone call I got from my SR, 1st call "I'm here" 05/12; 2nd call (day10) 05/22; and 3rd one (day16) 05/28. He is in ship 12/div224. He explained that they "earned" the phone call since their ship/div is doing pretty well! He said that the RDCs are really pushing them to learn and work as a whole team, and as a incentive they get to call their families. Tomorrow they will start receiving/mail letters. I received the form letter just yesterday and only had an address then. I guess he'll have to wait for another week to get my letters...

Mosita: the phone number varies, but in my caller id it says "pay phone" hope that helps. I used to not answer my phone before if I didn't knew whose calling, but I suggest get a prepaid phone that only your SR know (write in letter).

Area code from bc is usually 847.  HOWEVER, be aware of other area codes in the Chicago area:

224, 773, 312, 708, 630, 331

If they ever have reason to call from Navy personnel cells, some of these numbers could appear.

On my home phone, it would appear as "PAY PHONE - 847-xxx-xxxx" when my son would call. Might be a good idea to answer calls you are unsure of as long as your SR is at bootcamp...just in case!

You know you are missing a sailor WHEN
You sleep with your cell phone in case he calls in the middle of the night
The mailman knows you because you are always out waiting for him to come
You frequent the post office so much the staff knows your name
You make friends with strangers online just because they are in the same situation as you and are the only ones that can truly understand what you are going through
You find yourself checking your FB every fifteen minutes
The highlight of your day is getting a letter that was mailed a week ago and if you don't get a letter, the highlight of your day is writing him a letter that you know he will be able to read in a week
You get excited about unknown or Chicago phone numbers calling you
You find yourself randomly crying and you sometimes have no idea why
You stay on the internet for hours searching for anything and everything about the military
You are reading this and smiling and nodding because you know its so true
