Typically they go straight to A school from GL, they may be on hold there depending on when the next class starts.  As with all things military do not count on it and then be happy if it happens, do not write anything in pen only pencil because things tend to change frequently.  What applied to one group may not apply to the next.

Does anyone know anything about recruits taking leave after boot camp before they go to A school? My son mentioned it in his last letter but I can't find anything on that.

Willsmom - we have all been in your shoes and we will help you to get through this.  The time will fly and before you know it you will be sitting in the stands watching PIR and seeing your loved one again.

diannep - you are right about the flights with the prices going up it is probably a good thing to watch them but I would still wait until about half way through BC before booking the flight, book the rooms now if you need the bigger ones but good ones can be found last minute if need be.  I did not know until 1 week out if I could go or not and I found that I got better rates than I would have if I had booked them 2 weeks earlier.

JoelB - do you know where her A school will be?  If it is not at GL they fly out on Saturday and Sunday depending on flights available.  I think it is great that you want to propose then but you may have to find out a few things first

Thank you! My girlfriend is graduating 7/08 too. She is so great. I miss her so much. I plan on proposing to her on 7-09 on a nice lunch and boat trip. We have been together for 3 years she is 24 and I 25. I am former Marines I was in between 2004-08.during which I did two trips to Iraq. So I know its tough on her and the Marine Corps was very hard on me. And she is a tough girl she was born and raise in Moscow, Russia until she was orphaned at 15 by the deaths of family. So she is very strong and a great person. I write her 2 times a day and check the mailbox a couple times a day. On Tuesday I sent her a 10 page later. And a 9 page on Monday because I know how great it is to get letters. It's the best feeling in the world. I can't wait to meet all of you. Have a great day. Thank you!

Y'all pray for me today, as I will for you all.  Seems I'm taking an unwanted ride on the emotional rollercoaster...
