Hi!  I just found this group! My SR is ship 03 Div 221 anyone else?

I think the only calls the div's in our PIR group has received are the 'I'm here' calls.  Maybe next week some of our div's will earn calls.

Hello, does anyone here have a SR from DIV 934 that has gotten a call? I read that a few other SR moms and loved ones have gotten a call from their SRs' that are in different divisions and I'm really hoping I didn't miss my call or something. It would just kill me if mine called and I missed it or did not have service. Please help this is tearing me up inside. Thank you!

rackie:  If you send clippings, copy them onto paper...maybe even the back of a letter.  They can get in trouble for actual "clippings" sometimes. Try not to send any negative news...well, I know....that kinda limits what you can send, right?  :-) They really want them concentrating on bc, so that is why they cut them off from that kind of stuff.  So just be wise in what you send...and maybe send something funny and lighthearted at the same time!

Thanks everyone for your support and encouraging words. It really helps.

I would not wait to book the hotel.  Especially if needing a larger suite, like Residence Inn has (2 bdrm 2 bth).  They seem to fill up.  The hotels have liberal cancellation policies so best to book early.

I'm not sure I would wait until a week before PIR to book flights.  You never know what will happen with the prices.  I know my sailor son recently booked a flight a week before his departure and paid ALOT.  Booked the same flights the next time...3-4 weeks early, and paid alot less.  Southwest Airlines does not charge a change fee and your first 2 checked bags are "free."  So you all may want to look into flying with them (Chicago-Midway or Milwaukee WI...).

Good day every one!

Thank you all for the words of encouragement! Speaking for the newbies here, it is really hard to adjust on our new role from a civilian to becoming a member of the NAVY family. We could not thank you enough for making this transition a little easier.  I hope all the friends we meet here will still keep in touch with one another after PIR. It's only the beginning of a new way of life.

Quick question, can we send news paper clippings? Joel likes politics and world news, not so much in sports like I am! (go GIANTS!) Is there a rule what we can and cannot share to our SRs?
