C school is similar to A-school. It is additional training that is needed for the rate (job) a Sailor will be doing. Example: An AO (Aviation Ordnanceman) goes to A-school in Pensacola to learn the job. If that Sailor is going to be ships company he/she has learned most of what they need to know in A-school, they will finish A-school and have a short (about 2 week long) class after A-school called Strand and then they are ready for the fleet. If they are going to be Squadron company they have to go to C-school for a few weeks for more in-depth training for their specific job. Not everyone will have C-school. I hope that helps ;-)

Can any of you tell me what "C" school is?

The Navy Lodge is 65/night, fridge, microwave, shuttle.  1 1/2 miles from base.

I'm supposing that the dress (for us!) for PIR is casual dress?  That can stand up to the wind?  lol

Well, you know they say that the humidity is supposed to be good for the skin. I'm with you, I'll take the desert weather any time. We're in southern Cali and go southeast to Imperial Valley for the past twenty years. Thanks for the headsup on the weather Diane1954!

It's in the Chicago area.  That means nasty humidity.  I live in the desert.  I will take my 110's and 10% humidity any day of the week.

Thanks for the hotel info everyone. How's the weather going to be around PIR? One person told us it may be hot, another said it'll still be cold, and another said it's usually nice and comfortable the first week of July. (???)

“Anyone can give up, it's the easiest thing in the world to do. But to hold it together when everyone else would understand if you fell apart, that's true strength.”

Good day everyone!!!

luvmyboy:  Did you see the posts below yours from Betsy and me about the Residence Inn, Courtyard Inn, and Springhill Suites?  There is also Ramada Inn Waukegan (where the MeetNGreet is held), Navy Lodge, Comfort Inn...etc...best to google "Great Lakes hotels" and go from there!  Be sure to ask for their PIR rate.
