Thanks diannep!  I wouldn't write derogatory things about anyone willing to take on the tasks of training our sailors!  That being said, some things that make us laugh when we read them might not hit the same funny bone in the RDC!  In the 'Top 10 Lines from Boot Camp', one SR wrote home she didn't think her RDC was hugged enough as a child.  I'd never post that one if I thought it could be traced back to my SR; however, it had me in stitches!  :)

Hello ladies, I'm Betsy and the proud mom of a sailor awaiting A school training in Pensacola.  I have been MIA for a little while, due to a move across the country, but I'm back now and will be checking in on here, like our other wonderful veteran moms, to offer hugs, high 5's and support during your boot camp experience.  I can't wait to get to know all of you.

...by the way, they "update" their PIR lists a couple of weeks before PIR so I'm sure if your daughter writes him LOTS of wonderful letters....he will add her!  :-)

No, MidwestMom. You are not wrong in that feeling.  In fact, it is an excellent idea. All should be careful what you pass along on here...especially re: conversations with your SR or letters with specific info pertaining to your sailor (as opposed to general dates when they are doing things, etc). Once on one PIR group, a lady posted that her SR hated this particular RDC and even posted the RDC's name!  Oh my...not a good thing at all.  This site's purpose is not to post anything derogatory about those who are training your SRs because they have a huge job ahead of them, and they do it well.  This site is for comraderie as you go through this together and for info/encouragement. As long as you don't post specific info about your SR, I think you are fine with division numbers.

If you have a question as to whether what you are posting is wise, ask first or else private message that info to a "friend" on here.

yes, diannep, I am familiar with JessicaBSailor.  When I first came to N4Ms, I just read the posts because I was so unfamiliar with everything, I just wanted to learn!  Her posts are invaluable for those who know nothing!

And Rackie, I also appreciate the clock!  I even told my son about it in the last letter!

? for the experienced parents -- How comfortable did you feel identifying your SR's ship/div vs just joining the PIR?  Out of 10 divisions (880 SR's), I think my son's RDC would have a hard time linking anything I say to him, but narrow it down to 88 SR's with only a small handful of parents posting and there is a much better chance.  I never plan on writing anything inappropriate, but am I wrong in wanting to make sure my son stays anonymous while in BC?
