Diannep: I added the 7/8 Meet & Greet to the calendar on 7/7. Could you check & make sure that I did it correctly, it is on the Thursday prior to PIR correct? I haven't seen any other info out there yet about our PIR. I put the Ramada Waukengan as the host as well. Thanks so much for all your help! I'll be gone today, track meet out of the area, but I'll check later.

I also got my form letter yesterday, woo hoo, 12 days after my sons arrival! It had a short personal message, a bit scripted but still wonderful! Oh oops, he forgot to add his sister onto the list of PIR guests. Did I mention it's his only sister :-)

I am in NC and my letter day was always Thursday, even though I stalked the mailman every day just in case :-) I hope you get a nice long letter this week Rob.

For those booking travel, try and stay through the weekend (Sunday at least) even if your sailor says he/she is flying out on Sat.  On the 5/26 group, some of the sailors had changed orders this week and those who thought they were leaving Fri (this week's PIR is Thurs because of Memorial Day weekend) actually are now leaving on Sun !  The ones who had booked through Sun are so happy to have that extra time with their sailors.

So you never know when orders could change.  Just best to book through Sun and sightsee if your sailor does leave earlier.

Karleen has started a discussion for Div 221 up above.  If anyone else wants to start a discussion for your division, feel free to.  It is a great way to get to know others who have SRs training with yours.  But please stay on this main board also.  General info of benefit to all divisions will be posted on this main board.

WillsMom:  SInce you have been on since your SR was a DEPPER, you must be familiar with JessicaBSailor???  Jessica is wonderful on this site.  Her son and mine started in the same PIR group back in 2009.  When mine was asmoed (setback), I had no clue what was happening.  No one on the PIR site knew either.  Jessica reached out to me then...even though as a newbie herself, she had no info...just lots of encouragement and comfort!  We have been working together on this site every since then...I know she hasn't joined this group yet...she is busy job hunting right now...but I'm sure she will be back.  Believe me, I have felt her absence on these PIR boards!  She has always been so good about posting great reference info.

You guys are up to 23 members!  I'm sure more will find you soon!

Susie:  I didn't know about this site until my son was part way through bc.  He never told me about it.  Whether the recruiter told him about it or not, I don't know.  Since my son was older, I never met his recruiter (in a different county).  It is very possible, though, that the recruiter told him about it and he never told me!  HA!   I actually was googling websites to see if there was something for Navy families when I found this site.  I was very thankful!
