Proverbs 27:9
The heartfelt counsel of a friend is as sweet as perfume and incense.
I want to say thank you to all the new found friends I've made here. You help me tremendously, from experiencing this emotional roller coaster and for the good words, encouragements and most of all prayers.
All the veteran moms, especially diannep and lala: THANK YOU SO MUCH!
I'd be joining your crowd soon! As a veteran-wife! I know how it feels like when you're a newbie..
My friends here: Zach's mom, tickled, vgain, willsmom, NYrican, Sailormomlisa, midwestmom, mtmomma, everyone here.. (too many to mention):
THANK YOU ALL AND SEE YOU SOON! God Bless!
Navymommo: my dear, thank you so much, you were the first one to reach out to me, I'll never forget your kindness. I love you and I'm really happy that we will meet soon!
Our PIR is almost here, I know that most of us will resume into regular routines, but please drop by this site so that we can all still keep in touch and if needing a friend, a prayers request, or just to say hello.. Please do.. We will be amazed at how greatly blessed our lives (SAILORS too) will be in a year!

Friendship is born at that moment when one person says to another, 'What! You too? I thought I was the only one.'
Happy July 4th to everyone!
I agree with regnbowtopia, as long as you have the essentials you can always pick up something you forgot. I forgot hairspray one time, I learned that you most definately find a walmart or something otherwise a can of hairspray can cost you $15.00. LOL
I hope everyone has a safe trip however they are getting to GL, and for all the SR's who still have to pass BS. I can't wait to get the call, of course I should be close to Chicago by the time I get the call, but I can always pull over and let everyone hear the news!!! Can't wait. I think I will need a case of kleenx for PIR, I have been tearing at a drop of a hat all day and I'm sure it won't get any better until after Friday!!! God Bless everyone!
I've been reading through preparation posts. I travel a lot. One thing I've learned is not to worry about forgetting something, there are plenty of stores. Take a deep breath and relax so you're not exhausted when you see your Sailors. The only items you can't get at the store are your IDs, car registration, car insurance (or rental documents for rental cars), and parking passes.
For those of you with Sailors staying in GL be prepared for long walks to sign them out in the mornings. Although my husband and I didn't mind the walk it was unexpected so Friday afternoon we didn't plan properly. My Sailor's ship was about a half mile from the front gate, so we learned to call him when we left the hotel so he could start walking to the gate. This way we didn't have to wait while he walked to the gate. He got us on base and then we walked back to his Ship to sign him out and then back to the front gate. It was nice to see a little of the base and we enjoyed the exercise.
When you get into the PIR hall take advantage of the wait time and take some pics with your digital camera and change the settings around until you get the best pics for the environment your are taking the photos in. Your pictures will come out a lot better and you will be glad you did.
Also when getting in line (if driving) to get on the base avoid the far right lane. It ends and you will have to merge left one lane to get onto the base. It will save you a lot of wait time. If you get there early enough on Thursday check out the streets and gate entrance for the base the day before.
