Karen,
My Son said the same thing!! Are DIV Rocks!
why do you say phone call at 12:00p.m.? just asking because my letter says he thinks it will be around 2 - 3:00p.m.? he wants me at My Moms house when the call comes.. Oh dear!
Yes, they get paid. If they are married, they get BAH as well. We have gotten 3 deposits so far into our account. If they have Navy Fed, it gets deposited a little early. First one was May 28th, 2nd was June 13th, and got another last night. This most recent one was significantly more than the others, I'm not sure why. I really need to look at his LES.
Like Diannep said, there is still time for him to pass the float and not be held back. I personally am a great swimmer but can NOT float to save my life, not sure why. And they have to float for a long time! From what I've heard, if they get to the point that they are really going to get held back, they will call you to tell you. And even then, like Diannep said, it's still not over and they still have the possibility to pass on time.
The black backpack is needed if they are going elsewhere to A school and you want to give them things at the airport to bring with them like civilian clothes, laptop, etc. It has to be COMPLETELY black.
Waiting for a letter from 12/226 today too. J's mom gave us hope. :))
As for pay.. I know my son got one check because I have to pay his student loans out of it. Glad to know he will get another tomorrow.
Going to shop this weekend for a black backpack. Thanks for the info about what you are packing for him. It's a good reminder of what I should stick in there. I'm hoping everything is going well.
I'm getting a little nervous about the drive.. never been to Chicago before although my niece lives there and maybe can meet us for lunch. We'll see how it all goes. We might sight see a little after my SR leaves for A school.. well later that day. :)
chichinge: What division is he in? 219-222 go through BattleStations tonight, we think. Sometimes, if they haven't passed all of their tests before their division goes through Battlestations, they will call you. HOWEVER, that doesn't always happen. Some don't call. If he was to go through BattleStations tonight, if he didn't make his float, he would still have time to do this before PIR. My guess is that he would get a chance again on Tuesday (Monday is the 4th) to try and then call if he doesn't make it. That is usually the "Mom, I didn't make my float, I'm not graduating, don't come call." But....read on....
He will actually have up until Thurs (next week) to make this float. Then he would go through BattleStations that night (night before PIR) with the next PIR group and be at his own PIR, in uniform, in the balcony, too tired to march...but a sailor no less! BattleStations is overnight so he would be there with NO sleep.
Hopefully, it won't come to that...but wanted you to know what happens. Hoping that no news is good news for you right now. This happens alot, by the way...if it isn't the float, it's the run that trips some of them up. So hoping that he is "full of hot air" (HA!) and just floats like a pro today!
I accepted your friend request so please let me know if you need any more info.
Please keep us informed if you hear anything.
