Oh I KNOW I'm gonna cry!  I'm a big sap and cry from emotional movies, wedding, births, etc.  Now with the pregnancy hormones, cry even more easily.  Heck, I cried watching a show about a cheerleading squad because they did so well at nationals!  LOL  I will definitely need some good waterproof mascara!

I got some binoculars at Walmart before father's day for $10 :)

Did anyone hear about any more BattleStations dates?  Post up on the BattleStations discussion and I will add to the schedule.

The most important thing to remember about PIR is to be flexible and not make a lot of plans, they may not want to do much.  Enjoy your visits and travel safe!

PIR LAST MINUTE TIPS:
Make sure everyone has ID's (birth certs for kids without ID's)
Bring at least 2 copies of the gate/parking pass - whether you plan on taking a shuttle to PIR or not, you'll need it to return your sailor back to base in the evening.
Binoculars - trust me on this!
Tide Stick Pen and a lint brush
Tissue - self explanatory!
Camera - and charger (or film)
Cell phone - and charger
Umbrella-just in case
GPS, reservation numbers, maps you may have printed
Husband, kids, etc (easy to forget those!)
An open mind to how your weekend will transpire - remember, they will be tired, they will be hungry and they just want hugs!
Bring your Sailors cell, laptop, ipod and all chargers to use in the room to catch up and if they are G&G you can give pass them on.
A comfy pair of clothes for your sailor to relax in while in your motel room
A sweater or jacket - it gets cold in the PIR hall
Whatever cool ribbon or name tag you may have made for your Meet & Greet
If you have room in your bag…a towel for your Sailor to sit on if you do go out and sightsee.

Best advice: Have fun and whatever you do, do NOT bring your sailor back to the base late. No one will forgive you for a long, long time! (If someone is late, they lose liberty the next day - and their whole division loses a couple of hours!!! NOT COOL)

I had on waterproof mascara....must have been cheap because it didn't work!

Good luck with the chant, J'sMom.  Hope it works for you!  I will say, there are some who don't shed a tear...but are just as proud!  I think I must be hormonal or something...I cry at commercials and I was never a cry-er before!  I'll blame it on the estrogen...or lack of!

WillsMom:  I cried during the entire PIR ceremony...even before it started!  I was a bumbling mess...even my 25 yr old son sitting with me shed some tears.  It is just amazing...the atmosphere in the PIR Hall.  There are big screens with videos going on before it starts...and sailors around already.  It is just such a moment of pride for all of our military forces and what they do....

J'sMom:  Visitors Center is close to the front gate....not too far from the PIR hall (about a 1/4 mile walk but not bad).  However, even in a group that had 14 divisions, all extras got in and they didn't have to wait.  So it is very possible that extras can go right in....not guaranteed but possible.  It is worth it for them to come, in my opinion.
