Have your cameras ready once you step INSIDE the visitors center ( THAT"S what it is called-I tried to explain it once and didn't even know it had a name-duh!)

There are things to take pictures of as you go through to the security checkpoint before you go into Midway Hall. They should announce it as soon as you walk through the doors (somebody listen for this and confirm it for me if you can-I want some pics!LOL.) Of course I was so focused on getting in I didn't really hear them! I regret it because I would have loved some pics.

Just remember though- NO pictures OUTSIDE of the building. Only inside of the visitors center and Midway Hall (PIR). Your camera will be confiscated and all the pictures deleted.

It stinks because I love the buildings and the lawns and the geese! Oh, and the DIV's marching and calling cadence! :-(

J's mom, the visitors center is attached to the building PIR is held in.

Z'Sweetie, I'm so sorry to hear about your grandfather. My condolences to you and your family.

mosita:  There is no "clearance" for the extras.  Only the 4 are guaranteed to get in...but we have found that most of the extras DO get in.  Bring your mother-in-law!

bluedimplett:  So sorry it took you so long to be approved.  But glad you are here!

WillsMom:  You may shed a tear when the ribbons arrive with your SR's division # on them and the names.  Not only are they beautiful, they will make you realize how CLOSE you are to the end!

"Bursting with pride" is a good way to put it because that is exactly what it is.  PIR will be one of the most remarkable experiences you ever went through. They face the back wall after they come in....all of these sailors...at attention, in their divisions...facing the back wall.  Then when given the order, they about face....goosebumps!  There are many goosebump moments during PIR...the biggest one, to me, was when that big door rolled up revealing the sailors ready to march in.  So proud!  I'm excited for you all!  Won't be long now!

Just to let you all know, I pray daily for all of the SRs and sailors, especially for the ones struggling right now.

Wilsmom I agree with you I cant wait to see the ribbons.Bursting with pride is an under statement, I still tear up or cry when I get to thinking about my son and how awesome they will look as they walk in  at PIR. These 12 days cant get here fast enough!

Wife92 prayers going out for your husband, he will make it. Like J's mom said he will have it off in a matter of days. They tend to lose weight faster than us, which isn't fair lol.

Welcome bluedimplett. You'll find these ladies are very helpful here.

12 more days until we can see our loved ones and the Navy's newest and finest Sailors!! HOOYAH  ; )

J lost 16 pounds in 2 weeks while in DEP by cutting out soda and lightening up his eating a lil.  I hate him sometimes for how easy it is for him to lose weight LOL.  Go figure my secret was to get pregnant LOL.  I gained like 3-5 lbs (it fluctuates) in the very first weeks, but haven't gained ANY more at all since!  My massage therapist hadn't seen me since Feb and she said I look like I lost weight.

Praying for all the SRs in the PIR group that they ALL make it through!
