Yes, navyrocks. You all start your BattleStations next Thurs night, 6/30), and continue during your PIR week.
It is horrible when people lose money on travel. I know of one lady recently...thankfully, she was driving but they were halfway there (long drive) when they got the call that their SR had not passed the PFA and for sure would not be at PIR. Heartbreaking. Had to turn around and go back (I thought of time off from work, gas, etc). The SR is still trying to pass it....2 weeks later. We have been praying for her.
The Navy tries to be accommodating to families, but their ultimate mission is to make "sailors". It is up to the SRs if they pass. The RDCs will tell them this to motivate them...that their families will be mad at them (SRs) when they have to cancel/lose money on travel plans. And...of course....it IS up to the SRs to pass. There are set times, etc that they have to achieve in the PFA.
As far as failing BattleStations, like I said...although it happens to a few, they go a 2nd time and pass. So don't worry about that. The PFA is the important thing. You can breathe a sigh of relief when they pass that.
