My day just got better...got my second call. He sounds so different. He said they will be real busy, going to have a big test coming up. He hasn't got all the letters we have sent  which don't make sense.I can't wait until I can see my son again....really missing him!!

I know not enough phones and times for everyone to call on the same day, times, wish they could have there cell phones, lol

On a very cool note when i went to get my Tag renewed ,this older "gent" started talking to me and it ends up he was a "Rear Admiral 008 in the Navy for 30 plus tears and darn proud of it, showed me his Military ID and so forth , He commanded the Great Lakes facilitary years back, sharp as a tack for his age.

I asked him What words of "Wisdom"he would want me to pass on,  He said show "Enthusiasm" amd take out the insurance.LOL

...and, not to mention the SRs who are asmoed right now due to illness, injury, other reasons...and those waiting to be discharged...maybe 4,000-5,000 SRs there at a time???

navyrocks>  It is up to the airlines whether they issue the gate passes or not.  But they usually do...if large groups accompany sailor to airport, not sure all would be granted a pass, however.

I wouldn't count on calls on Sunday for Father's Day. Remember...there are TONS of SRs on base who would need to call.  Right now, there are 6 active PIR groups there...plus those in processing...lots of SRs!  No way all could call the same day.  Some may have scheduled calls then, but most probably won't call.  Same happened on Mother's Day.  If you get a call, it is a true "gift!"

When mine was there for Christmas Day, he didn't get to call either.  Same reason.

mine were short and his penmenship not as great as it was before, for sure tired looking. They were wrote over 3 days ,kinda brief.  Everytime so far we get letters on the same day. Says it is not in stone about Grad N Go"s folks being allowed to get a gate pass.

Wow, are you kidding that some RDC'slet them write and mail letters more often. Many of you have wrote that your SR letter were shorter and sounded more depressed, so did my SR letter.  Sounds like they are all in the same boat (haha), feeling a bit worn out and tired.

@Navyrocks...sorry to hear you didn't get to talk to him, but what a wonderful early Father's Day present for your hubby! My SR is Ship 12 Div 224 and some of us got calls today too, we're brother divisions. My husband was bummed he didn't get to talk to him. Their div earned the calls too, sounds like a lot of them are fighting a bug going around though!
