Got a letter from my son today. It wasn't as long as the others had been. It sounds like they really keep them busy. He's been sick with a fever too This is a kid that never got sick so this is a bummer for him. But he sounds good and sounds like he's working hard and is really excited for A school. Yippee-21 more days!

Welcome, Heidi!  Glad that you found us through your daughter!  Please ask us questions as you have them.  I am one of the veterans on here...fireteamleaderwife, Lala and Betsy are on here too.  We are all happy to help you "newbies" through bc.  So just ask!

navyrocks:  Hoping that your sailor doesn't leave until at least Sat....and that maybe you will have some time with him at the airport then.

Wow TickledTink, sounds like a lot of the same from my recruit, RDC's doing what they do best and he hopes to hang on despite feeling like crap.  The one thing that really sucks though is it looks like he will be Grad n Go which means we only have a few hours with him and his dad and i have a long drive from the East coast of Fla.  Wouldnt miss it for the world though!

Yesterday, I got my letter! He sacrificed sleep to write me a little bit EVERY DAY for week, so it was 7 pages! He was VERY down in the beginning of the letter because that day (the 5th) was when they (div 224) got in BIG trouble for that gross prank (the reason their calls were taken away). He doesn't know exactly what happened, because he was on watch when it all went down. The RDCs must've REALLY laid into them because before that, they were the #1 division, so they were very disappointed. It was hard to read, because he was talking about feeling defeated and that it was like quicksand and a house of cards and that he wanted to come home. But he got more upbeat as the letter went on, especially when he wrote the day he talked to me on the phone. He said he had the written test (got a 46/50) and locker inspection and that he "tore that s**t up" LOL he even put in the asterisks. Hehe. The division got the scholastic flag, but he also said a bunch of people got too relaxed and really messed up on inspections and some girls talk and giggle a lot, so they had quite a bit of IT last week. (the 9th and 11th) He was really excited & moved about getting his uniforms and can't wait to earn them to wear them, and running is getting easier for him to keep up. He said some of the guys saw him cry after his phone call and were really supportive. He said they are a very tight and caring group "nobody in here cares about color, race, religion, all we see is blue and gold!" He loves the letters w/ the pictures, he said, "that s**t was awesome. I was forgetting what you looked like. I got to pass it around to show some of the guys the girl who I always talk about." So all in all, they had a pretty rough week with lots of IT, but for the most part he still seemed to be doing ok.

ship 12 div 219 our daughter wrote to us about this sight. She sounds like she is enjoying her time in BC. And yes when the letters come, it is 2 - 4 at a time.

Well got a letter from my son today and it was short and for the first time he actually said he was demoralized. It was hard reading it and made me cry. He really had a hard week/day. He was glad they earned their Scholastic flag though barely. They needed to score an average of 4.0 and scored 4.04. He was pretty upset because he says that all the EPO's get to wear 2 stripes and he is the only EPO on the base only wearing 1. He commented how the RDC finds this funny and is the only thing that has really hit him hard. My son loves working out and since he doesn't consider being "smoked" with Physical training a punishment then they must've found something to get to him and this was it. He'll just have to be strong about it I guess.

ship12/219  We got 3 letters today.  Actually 2, and the third was the returned questionnaire that I copied from this site.  What a great idea!  She seemed to enjoy filling it out and I got more information that I would have otherwise.  She wrote little comments all over it.  Thanks to whoever came up with that!  She was in much better spirits and really enjoyed Marlinspike. She kept saying how much she appreciated everyone writing to her, she gets several letters every day and it helps her cope.  Also, that they "MIGHT" get to call on the 21st, so div 219 be ready, just in case.
