Robin that is great! It's so nice to have them close after all this time. Congratulations.

I don't know what they do for that poor sailor and his family. It was work related. Alan loves the ports, I always know when they get to port because money starts disappearing from his checking account. However, during this deployment he has saved enough to buy a car and we will drive it up to him when they return. Can you imagine the homecoming for an aircraft carrier? 5,000 sailors on board. He is an ABH, E-3, he works on the hangar bay and has received his crash and salvage quals. He is studying homeland security. Keep us updated on Ali, I'm sure she will love being on a ship.

Robin, it is so good to hear from you! Funny, you and Ali have been in my thoughts the last few weeks. Good for her, it sounds exciting, you must be happy that she's on her path. Yes, Alan is still deployed, he's been to 5 countries, so far. I miss him like crazy. Tragically, they had a death aboard his ship on Friday. It's been devastating for all.

Wow, Helen, you should be so proud of Matt. I'll bet he is anxious to leave GL. Alan is 3 months into his first deployment and made port in 3 countries. He will be testing for 3rd class PO in a few months. Can't wait for this deployment to end so I can see my boy!

He said he took lots of pictures, I asked him to mail me postcards from all their ports for his scrapbook. He e-mails almost every day and calls every week or 2. Sometime communications will be down for a couple weeks and that's hard. We are about an 8 hr drive or 1 1/2 hour flight. I am in San Diego a couple times a year for meetings. Are you going there? Is that where Morgan's going? I love San Diego, so does Alan.

Alan made his first foreign port recently and absolutely loved it! It was such a relief for us since he was nervous about his first deployment. I hope all your sailors are doing well.

Hi Kathy, they have to get online to get their W-2s, the same way with their pay stubs.

Wow, Celeste, I hope you will have the opportunity to visit him there.

I know how excited my son was when a fire broke out and he got to suit up to put it out. It was already out so he was a bit disappointed. How sad to not find any survivors. They must be assigned to the Lincoln, isn't it out of Everett? He thinks it's fun when waves come in the hangar bay and get them wet, it would scare me silly!

Alan misses CA also. Says WA is beautiful but not for him. He has sent me some beautiful pictures. I'm so excited about him visiting all those foreign ports. Is she on deployment or on short training cruises (or whatever they call them)?
