It's so great that she likes it so much. Alan goes back and forth, one day he says he'll reinlist the next day he can't wait to get out. What kind of ship is she on? The Lincoln was pulling into San Diego when my son's ship, the Stennis was pulling out. Alan loves San Diego. He'll be gone about 6-7 months.

How exciting for you and her also. At least you know what to expect as a bootcamp Mom! My boy is out on deployment and it is tough although not as horrible as bootcamp since we get regular e-mails. I'm attaching a picture of them leaving port. I couldn't be more proud. I would not have made it through bootcamp without all of you and the great support. THANK YOU! On to the next journey.

We just returned from seeing our sailor off on his first deployment. It was heartbreaking but I'm so proud of him and all of them. Is anyone else's sailor deployed yet? I'm making a supreme effort not to break into tears all the time. I couldn't help but shed some tears when I hugged him goodbye last night.

Alan finally received his package I mailed priority mail on the 8th. You wouldn't think it would take so long since they are in port. He said they all are buying sleeping bags for warmth. Neat trick with the vacuum, I'm going to try it.

Alan is freezing all the time! He's in Bremerton, where it's cold, but I guess they aren't heating the berthing compartments yet. There isn't much room for storage, I'm getting him movies, thick socks and long underwear! Thanks for the info on the mailing address, I mailed Alan the recovery disk for his laptop (it crashed) 10 days ago and he doesn't have it yet. I wish I had known, I would have mailed it to my brother, who lilves up there. There is a lot to learn for us Navy Moms! I hope you all have a wonderful Christmas!

Dana, I'm so glad that you were able to spend that time with your sailor. It sure is sad that those young women are so petty given all that they have been through. I hope she makes some friends soon. Alan has met some guys that were in his A school but he doesn't seem to be connecting as well as I thought he would either. He usually makes friends so easily.

We put my son on the plane just an hour ago to head back to his ship. We are so grateful we were able to spend Thanksgiving with him. What a surprise, we weren't expecting to see him until after Christmas. I hope you all had a wonderful holiday!

Hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving! I just got a text from Alan, he received permission to come home for the long weekend. Dana, have a great trip to WA, I'll be making that trip in December.

Western Pacific Tour (WestPac). Boy, I would definitely take advantage of visiting him in Hawaii! I've never been there. We are leaving for WA on Wednesday for Thanksgiving with our son. I'm very excited to be able to spend the holiday with him.

Kathy, that's great news! Does he have his ship assignment? He must be on the WestPac if he's going to Hawaii. I heard from Alan for the first time since he's been out at sea, he loves it! I was so afraid he wouldn't. We will be going to WA for Christmas to spend a week with him before his long deployment. Phone calls and e-mails are few and far between once they are at sea. :( I sure miss all of you, this is the absolutely best group!
