Thanks for making this group ... it's much easier to see just our guys/girls!

I got a letter from my son today too, was talking about the test, someone got in trouble for bringing a cookie to the room from the kitchen ... the letter said that one recruit threatened to kill another recruit for snitching - hopefully all our loved ones will be kept safe and sound and get through this without any incidents.

On a brighter note, someone in our group has a new addition to the family - a new team member with Chris - a recruit (age 18) just became a proud father of a baby boy about a week ago!

OMG, what is our Div thinking. I hope they shape up soon. Sounds like thier having a really hard week, I hope it gets better for them and quick.

CJ - Welcome to the group :) I was under the impression that this div. was working well as a team, I wonder what happened :( I hope they find their strength soon. Glad to hear about the baby boy, yay!

Div, 283... it seems like other divisions have been getting their calls within the past couple days so we should be soon (please!). As far as the letters to the entire div go... I am SO in! If the seven (or so) of us from 283 each write about 10 or 11 letters maybe that would cover the entire division...it might be just what they need to get motivated to work better as a team! We could pick a day when we agree to mail them and figure out what they should say ahead of time so they are all the same (keeping it positive/motivating/encouraging). Also, that might be really cool for those who unfortunatly don't get any mail from home. Our letters could really touch their (macho) hearts. Whatever we do, count me in! I want to see my Sailor in 31 days... not any longer!

I think that person is bunkmates with my husband. He said something in a letter that his bunkmate had just had a son, and that he got to call his wife. I certainly want to send my congrats.

I got 2 letters from my Sailor last night. :) He said they failed a big inspection? They also had another test Friday. it seems like they have inspections on Wednesday and tests on Friday. The RDCs keep danging the phone call home in front of them like the proverbial carrot on a string. Hopefully they'll be able to get an extra call. Our 2-3 week phone call should be coming soon (maybe even this week!!). He said in his letter for me to keep my cell by me at all times this week. :D

He also said that the div isn't working as a unit. They're supposed to be a well oiled machine and instead they have a few "macho, I am better than you" attitude and haven't been "broken" by the authority of the RDCs. They have threatened to keep back the whole division and a few people have already been bumped. My Sailor claims that every day there are still people who can't hack it.

On a personal note, my Sailor fell asleep on watch and almost faceplanted the deck. He also asked me not to send him any more paper, pens, envelopes etc because he has enough. He said he could get a rule infraction for not using "official" pens. Meh. He also said he's gotten more than his share of IT too. The one thing he misses is a hot shower that he doesn't have to share with anyone. And he is so very tired. Poor guy... I just want to mail him a pillow and a comfy bed.

My Sailor had some work done on his teeth too but I don't know what. I wonder if they yanked his wisdom teeth. I guess I'll find out soon enough.

My son stated in one of his letters to me, that if his division doesn't start acting right, he's going to put in for a transfer.
A transfer, can u believe it. I don't even know if they can do that. I'm going to tell me not to though. I think you should'nt run when the going gets tough. I wonder who the RPOC is.

I JUST GOT A CALL!!! Ahhh, that felt SO good :) He is doing great and he has passed evverything so far. He said their inspection went well on Wednesday and so did the test on Friday. JD's Angel & Amber - my sailor knows your Sailors! He had some really nice things to share about both of them, send me a personal message and I will elaborate :) Here are some more things that I learned:

Today is day 2:5 and tomorrow is day 3:1 (and I found out that the weeks can sometimes speed themsleves up. For example, they could do two days in one day like day 4:2 and 4:4 could be done in the same day and then 4:3 on the following day. That helped me to understand how they plan to complete five more "weeks" of boot camp in the next 4 and a half weeks!)
They have all of their unifrms now (dress whites, dress blues, MSU (khaki and black), NWU (blue digital looking working uniforms)
The other half of the division is in oral surger today (the half that didn't go on the 15th) to get out their wisdom teeth.
They will all know if they are Grad & Go on the 22nd. They are meeting with person who renews thier contracts and dicusses A school with them in greater detail for their spicific A School.
They are getting new haircuts tomorrow
He is close friends with someone with a last name that starts with an S (four letters, ends in "o"). Let me know if that is your SR).
He loves going to the church out there and is rededicating his life and getting baptized this Sunday!
He said they wear their NWU's for three days at a time so they start to really stink day two and three, ha!

Funny side note: He said that his compartment has asked him to ask me to "change up my purfume choices." LOL! He said that he loves it because when he walks into his compartment it smells like "his baby" (Sweet Pea from Bath & Body Works) because I always spray his letters and cards. However, his compartment is ready for a new scent, haha! I guess I just assumed that many of the SR's would be getting perfumes sprayed letters and mine would just blend in. Aparently, sending letters/cards every single day sprayed with Sweet Pea is enough to "freshen up" the entire compartment.

You should all be getting calls today. He said all but one guy (who was on watch) from his division could make calls today (and the watch guy would be able to call later on today). Be sure to share :)

*beaaaaaaaam* soooo happy right now..... *sigh* Unfortunately my guy is sick :( But he's doing alright. He also mislabeled his new $400 jacket and now will get an infraction point at each inspection. He said he got an infraction for not "dressing the toilet paper".... Ladies, I don't know about you but I don't think I'll ever ask him to worry about toilet paper ever again. *LOL* Yeah, my Sailor said he'll know at his "classifier" on Thursday about rates and stuff. BTW, Sweetheart - Sweet Pea is awesome... my scent I sent was Japanese Cherry Blossom, but I was afraid to spray too much because I didn't want him to get in trouble *LOL* oh.. man ... he's going to be mad at me though. I sent him an envelope with 2 legit letters and an article I found. Inside the article I put in about 40 little red hearts I punched out of red scrapbooking paper. WHen he opens it, the hearts will fall all over the place. I hope he gets a good laugh out of it and not another infraction. *wince*

Congrats on the call JD :) They get hits pretty easy I take it. Karlton also shared that he got a hit becuase when he was standing at attention during inspection his elbows were a half inch too far out and the RDC could see light between his body and arms, WOW! And that the metal on his belt was not perfectly lined up with a loop or another piece of metal or something on the other part of his belt... something like that... and that was pointed out. Sounds pretty strict, in a good way, but still strict!

Thank you so very much for sharing all the info! I have been waiting all day for my call ... and still waiting. I do know my son had dental work to be done too (a tooth needed pulling), so hopefully I might still hear from him?! It relieves me to hear the calls are starting to come in :)

I totally understand the perfume thing ... but I'm a mom, might be weird if I sent something with perfume on it?! Wouldn't want someone to take it the wrong way ~ LOL
